Description
I UNITED? STATES PATENT ()FFIC ANDREW L. HILL, OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS.
HAME-TUG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 527,747,"dated October 16, 1894.
,Applioation filed September 5, I892. Serial No. 445,130. (N model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW L. HILL, of Decatur, 1n the county of Macon and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sectional I-Iame-Tugs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hametugs composed of two sections, a clip section and a tug section. It is embodied partly in the clip section, partly in the tug section and partly in the two combined, and it is expressed in the details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the drawings forming part of this specification Figure l is" an edge view of the hame tug with the long tug in connection therewith. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section'through the hame tug. Fig. 3 is a plan of the hame tug, and Fig. 4. is a perspective representation of the stiffening block of the tug section.
The tug section is composed of the long flat link 1, composed of a continuous bar the ends of which are riveted together at 2, a stiffening block 3 interposed between the bars of the link and provided with therecess 4, the loop 5 extended through the link and through the recess of the block, and the leather casing 6, which is not however essential to the operatn of the device.
The clip section is composed of side bars 8' having cross bars 9 and loop 11, strap 10, which encompasses the cross bars 9, and the clip 12 secured to the cross bars and to the strap by rivets 13. The clip section is connected with the link of the tug section by having an end bar link bar disconnected. The clip section, the
the flexibility obtained from the pivotal junction of the sections, which enables the sections to be otherwise perfectly stiff. The utility of the clip section lies principally in the peculiar location of the loop 11, which is placed between the cross bars, 9, well to the front of the clip section, and which holds the end of the long tug close to the clip section when the section is carried close-to the hame. The utility of the tug section lies in the great strength, perfect stability of adjustment of the parts and-comparative lightness.
The utility of the device as a whole lies'in the utility of the different parts as above specified;
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A hame clip section composed of side bars 8 having cross bars 9, 9, and loop 11 at the forward end of the section, the strap 10 encompassing the cross bars, and the clip 12 secured to the cross bars and thestrap, all in combination, substantially as set forth.
2. A tug section of a hame tug composed of link 1, block 3 in the link having recess 4, and loop 5 extended through the link and the recess of the stiffening block, all'in combination, substantially as set forth.
3. A hame tug composed of link 1,block 3 in the link having recess 4, loop 5 extended through the link and the recess of the block, the side bars 8 of the clip section having an end bar pivoted in an end of the link, cross bars 9, 9 connecting the side bars, loop 11 at the forward end of the clip section, strap 10 encompassing the cross bars, and. the clip 12 secured to the cross bars and to the strap, all in combination, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereofI sign my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANDREW L. HILL.
