Description

NTTED STATES WATCH-KEY, TOOTHPICK,
PATENT OFFICE.
AND TOGGLE COMBINED.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 52,687, dated February 20, 1866.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD CROSS, ot' Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and Improved Combined Watch-Key, Toothpick, and Toggle; and I do hereby declare that the following is a f'ull, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specilication, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of my invention. Fig. 2 isa longitudinal section ot' the same. Fig. 3 is a view of the toothpick and Watchkey disconnected from the toggle.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention consists in combining, with a watch-chain toggle, a watch-key and a toothpickin such manner that each feature shall be perfect in every respect, as will be presently described.
A designates the toggle, and it is made hollow, so as to form a socket in which to insert the other part, which latter consists of a Watchkey, B, and a toothpick, C. This latter part has its middle portion of a size to lit snugly into the mouth of the toggle A, and it carries a pin or stop, a, on one ot' its sides, which sinks into a recess, b, in the toggle A, to prevent the key turning when using the device as a Watch-key.
The end B answers the purpose ot' a Watchkey, and it is intended to form a part of the toggle.
The end C is the toothpick, and it is intended to be kept incased in the socket or toggle A, as shown in Fig. 2. Thus the part B C can be detached from the part A whenever desired, and a toothpick will always be handy and will be kept from being damaged.
When the article is to be used as a watchkey it is not necessary to separate the two parts.
The ferrule c permits the key to be turned Without entnngling the Watch-chain or the like.
This is a 4very neat and convenient article, and it answers the triple purpose ot' a watchkey, a toothpick, and a toggle.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination ot" a watch-key, toggle, and tootbpick, substantially as shown and described.
RICHARD CROSS.
