SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 526,397, dated September 25, 1894.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILL M. KINNARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Day ton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Covers for Memorandum Sales-Slip Books, of which the following is a full, clear, and-exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

The object of myinvention is to provide a cover for the sales slips within which packages of slips, either loose or bound, may be readily secured, and consists mainly in providing a pair of spring clamps arranged so that they may be readily operated simultaneously to release the old book or insert a new one; the novel features of which will be hereinafter more particularly pointed outand claimed.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of the cover for holding the packages of slips. Fig. 2 is a rear view in cross section taken just within the back wall of the clamp support. Fig. 3 is a similar view showing the clamps raised ready for the insertion of the slips. I

0, O, are a pair of levers or clamps pivoted within the receptacle B on thepins e, e, pivoted practically in the same horizontal and vertical planes, and having their inner ends approaching each other. Recesses are formed in these clamps O, C, around the pivotal points e, e, to receive the coiled springs f, f, one end of which bears against the clamp and the other against the bottom A of the receptacle, the springs being preferably coiled around the pins e, e, so that their action keeps the outer ends of the clamps pressed downward. For convenience in use, the case for the slips is then covered with or placed within a suitable card board back cover, andsuitably secured thereto; the staples Z, Z, being employed to secure the receptacle portion to this book cover and the balance of the cover being glued thereto.

Having thus described my invention'mhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a memorandum sales slip cover, the combination with the cover, of a pair of spring actuated clamps pivoted thereto with their inner ends approaching each other so that they may be depressed at one operation, substantially as shown and described.

2. In a memorandum sales slip cover, the combination of a receptacle open at its lower end, a pair of spring actuated clamps pivoted inthe upper portion thereof, so that when depressed they will clear. the opening, said clamps having their inner ends approaching each other, and the top having a pencil opening therein over the inner ends of said clamps whereby they maybe depressed simultane- The points h, h, pressing against the paper,
