.13e it known that I, GEORGE A. KUETIS, a cltizenfof the United States, residing at Erie, inthe county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Stovepipe Attachment, of which the following is a speciication. 1

This invention relates to stove-pipe attachments; and it has for its object to provide an lmproved device of this character adapted to be easily andconveniently attached to any ordinary stove-pipe at a convenient point above the top of the stove, and to combine vtherewith improved shelf and drying rack attachments, whereby vessels and kitchen utensils may be supported out of the way when removed from the stove, while at the same time means shall be provided for drying towels, &c.

To this end the main and primary object,

of thepresent invention is to constructan attachment for stove pipes in a manner which shall render the same extremely useful, while at the same time, when not in use, occupying but little space and therefore not being atall in the way.

With these and other objects in .view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustratedand claimed.

In the drawings:-Figure l is a perspective View of a stove-pipe attachment shown clamped on a stove pipe (a portion of which shows in dotted lines), with the drying racks or rack support-s in proper position. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the attachment' showing the stove shelves substituted for the racks. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional View showing the lowered and upright folded positions of one of the supports fitted in one of the pipe collar brackets. Fig. 4 is a detailin perspective of one of the rack supports detached from the pipe, with the several parts thereof separated from each other. Fig. 5isa detail in perspective of a portion of the sectional pipe collar or clamp showing particularly the construction of the hinge joint. sectional pipe collar or clamp A,rcomprises the duplicate curved members B, provided at one end with the registering and overlapping beveled lock edges vb, and the overlapping horizontally disposed hinge lugs C, the lower of which isy provided with an opening c, to receive the hinge or pivot stud c', projected from the upper one of such hinge lugs, thus providing a secure hinge joint for one extremity of thecollarv members to provide for the ready attachment of the collar to the stove pipe by the opening and closing of the separate members, while the beveled registering lock edges b, serve to prevent the disengagement of the pivot stud when the members are closed on the pipe. The other endsof the collar members B, are provided with the. meeting bolt iianges D, which accommodate the clamping bolt cl, passing therethrough and serving to tighten the collar on the stove pipe.

At regularly spaced points the sectional collar A, is provided with radial off-standing support brackets E. The radially disposed support brackets E, are arranged in aconvenient number according to the size of the attachment, and are each provided with under recesses F, and longitudinally disposed side beveled sockets G, leading off from said under recesses up to the body of the collar and having the outer sides thereof terminate in the front abrupt rest shoulders g. The said off-standing support brackets E, are further provided near their outer ends with the top openings I-I, leading into the under recesses F, and having in the opposite sides thereof the V-shaped notches I, the function of which will be presently referred to. 4

The several off-standing support brackets E, are each adapted to detachably and adjustably hold in position therein either of the supports J or J the support J, being `illustrated as being a rack supportto furnish a drying rack, and the other supporty J being illustrated as a stove shelf constructed in any IOO suitable shape and size as may be desired. Both of the supports J and J are provided at one side with the downturned attaching arms K, from the lower outer extremities of which are extended the straight side beveled supporting tongues L, which terminate at their inner bases in the abrupt rest shoulders M, which are adapted to register with or bear against the rest shoulders g at the outer sides of the beveled sockets G. The said supports J and J', are further provided at one side and at points at the base and opposite sides of the downturned attaching arms K, with the -pointed catch bevels N, which are adapted to be dropped into engagement with the V- shaped top notches I, of the support brackets E, whereby the supports may be held in an upright folded position out of the Way, close against the sides of the stove-pipe when not in use.

In placing the attachment supports in proper position Within the off-standing support brackets E, it is simply necessary to insert the straight beveled supporting tongues and the downturned attaching arms through the top openings I-I, of the brackets, and then lower the supports to a position Which brings the beveled tongues L, into the beveled sockets G, of the brackets, and the shoulders M, against the shoulders g. In this position the top of the support rests flat on the outer solid top portion of the support brackets E. When the supports are not in use and it is desired to fold the same out of the Way, it is simply necessary to 'turn the same in the support brackets E, to an upright position, which brings the pointed catch bevelsN,into engagement with the V- shaped top notches I, of the brackets, g

thereby locking the supports in'an upright folded position.

The support J', is simply a shelf, as previously noted, and may be substituted for the rack support or stick rack J, and this stick rack J, is provided with a stationary stick socket O, projected from one side thereof and having a V'shaped outer end o, in which are formed aligned socket openings o', to receive the inner ends of a rack stick P, on which may be hung towels, &c. At each side of the intermediate or central stationary stick socket O, are arranged the folding sock ets Q. The folding sockets Q, are provided with inner angled ends q, pivotally clamped onto the body of the support by the pivot bolts q', and the outer ends of the folding sockets are V-shaped and provided with aligned socket openings r, similar to the construction of the stationary socket. By reason of the pivotal attachment of the folding sockets Q, to the support J, the same may be spread out laterally away from the stationary socket to separate the rack sticks P, and provide a large hanging area. When not in use the sockets Q, are folded flat up against the lstationary socket so that the entire stick rack may be properly folded up against the stove pipe in an upright position.

Changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to Without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-

1. In a stovepipe attachment, the combination of a sectional pipe collar or clamp comprising duplicate curved hinged members provided at one end with registering and overlapping beveled lock edges and overlapping horizontal hinge lugs at one side of the lock edges, and at their other ends with meeting bolt flanges, one of said lugs being provided with an opening and the other with `a depending hinge or pivot stud that is prevented from disengagment from the lug with the opening, when the collar or clamp is closed on a pipe, by said registering and overlapping lock edges, a clamping bolt detachably engaging the meeting bolt flanges of the collar members, and supports adapted to be mounted on said sectional collar, substantially as set forth.

2. In a stove-pipe attachment, the combination of a stove pipe collar or clamp having a radial series of off-standing support brackets provided With under recesses, longitudinally disposed side beveled sockets leading off from said recesses and having their outer sides terminating in front abrupt rest shoulders, top openings near their outer ends, leaving outer solid top portions and V-shaped notches in the opposite sides of said top openings, and attachment supports provided at one side with pointed catch bevels adapted to engage said V-shaped top notches tc secure the support in an upright folded position, and downturned attaching arms projected beyond said catch bevels and provided with straight side beveled supporting tongues terminating at their inner bases in abrupt rest shoulders adapted to engage on the front shoulders of said sockets, said supports When folded out being adapted to rest on the outer solid top portions of the brackets, substantially as set forth.

3. The combination with a suitable support; of a stick rack attachment comprising a body having a single off-standing stationary or xed stick socket, opposite folding sockets at each side of the central socket and provided with inner angled overlapping ends, and a single clamping bolt pivotally clamping the angled ends ofl the' folding sockets onto the body of the rack in rear ofthe stationary or fixed socket, substantially as set forth.

4. In a stove-pipe attachment, the combination of the pipe collar or clamp having a series of ond-standing support-brackets, the

stick racks having separate folding sockets, and a single projecting attaching arm carrying said sockets and adapted to detachably engage said support-brackets of the collar and a single clamping bolt pivotally clamping the inner ends of the folding sockets together, substantially as set forth.
