FREDERICK J. SHOYEB, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ADMIN IS TRATOR OF WILLIAM SHOYER, DECEASED.
HAT-CURLERS I RQN-STAN D.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 522,858, dated July 10, 1894.
Application filed July 29, 1893. Serial No. 481,820. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that WILLIAM SHOYER, formerly residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, (FREDERICK J. SHOYER administrator of said WILLIAM SHOYER,) hath invented a new and useful Improvement in Hat-Curlers Iron-Stands, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
This invention consists of improvements in hat curlers iron stands, as will be hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims which follow the specification.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a hat curlers iron stand embodying the in- Vention. Fig. 2 represents a bottom plan View thereof; Fig. 3 represents a vertical section on line 00, 00, Fig, 1, on an enlarged scale.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referringto the drawings: A designates a stand or base having openings B, G, and D therein.
E and F designate peaks or elevated supports which are secured to the stand over the openings 13 and C, the same being provided with flanges G on their lower ends.
Below the peaks are gas pipes H, J, and K, the pipes H and K being perforated so that gas may be burned under said peaks in order to heat the latter. The pipe J is extended as at J so as to reach the opening D,it being seen that the walls of the latter have the ridge L around the same for supporting a hatters iron, which is heated by the flame from the perforatedportion J of the gas pipe J. The said ridge L is detachable from said base A, and is secured thereto by means of screws which pass through the eyes L thereon. It
is also provided with a flange A to hold the iron in place on the ridge.
Air may be admitted to the gas pipes by suitable openings ctor collars b, or both, and to the flames by'openings in the stand and the peaks. 7
On the side edge of the stand are ledges M and N, which are heated bya flame or flames from the extension P of the gas pipe B, the upper. ledge supporting a curved bar or iron Q, which is held in place by the catches R, and adapted to be heated by said ledge.
The peaks E and F are designed for supporting the batters tools, known as shackles, while the same are being heated.
The iron or bar Q receives between it and the upper ledge N, the brim of a hat for softening the same.
The ledge M is designed for softening the front and rear of the brim, which is placed upon the same.
As the peaks E and F are slanting, the shackles may rest therein in oblique directions, see dotted lines, Fig. 1, thus removing the handles thereof from direct action of the heat, and allowing the same to be kept comparatively cool.
WVhile the bar Q is-freely held in place by the catches R, so as to be raised above the ledge in order to permit of the introduction of the brim between the same and the ledge N, especially when brims are of difierent sizes, said bar may be removed in order to be cleaned of shellac and other matter that may adhere to the same.
Having thus described the invention of WILLIAM SHoYER, deceased, what is claimed as new, and desired'to be secured by Letters Patent, is-
l A hat curlers iron stand having the ledges M and'N, thecatches R, and the bar Q, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. A hat curlers iron stand having a base with openings B, G, D, therein, the supports E and F on the base over the openings Band C, the gas burners H and K beneath said supports, the gas pipe J below the base with the extension J beneath the opening D, and the extension P of the pipe B of the burner K, said parts being combined substantially as described.
3. A hat curlers iron stand having a base with a ledge on the edge thereof, and a removable bar on said. ledge, substantially as P of the pipe B of the burner K adjacent to lo desergid't 1 0 t d h b said ledge, substantially as described.
4. a cur ers iron s an swing a ase' FREDERICK J SHOYER with openings B, O, D, therein, and a ledge or 5 ledges on the edge, the Supports E and F on Accllmmzstgatoroftheestate 0f Wzllzam Shoye the base over the openings B and O, the gas ecease burner H and K beneath said supports, the Witnesses: 7 gas pipe J below the base with the extension JOHN A. WIEDERSHEIM, J beneath the opening D and the extension R. H. GRAESER.
