Be it known that I, EUGENE S. SUTroN,a
citizen of the United States, and a resident of Snohomish, in the county of Snohomish and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes- Raoks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same,`reference being had to the accompanylng drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in clothes racks, andis designed to provide a simple and convenient article of this character adapted to be suspended from a wall, or. other suitable support; and the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, all as hereinafter described and pointed out in the appended claim.
As shown in the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention, the rack consists of three principal parts, viz: a main section A, .top section B, and wall brace C. The main section A consists of an angular frame having cross bars a for the clothes. The upper cross bar is provided with screw-eyes a', which are designed t-o engage hooks a2 secured in the wall or other support, and in this manner suspend the rack. The top frame B consists of the two side pieces b b, connected by clothes bars a, and hinged at the upper ends to the upper corner portions of the frame A. The Wall brace O consists of two side arms c, c, which are hinged or pivoted at one end to the intermediate portions of the side pieces of the main frame A, and connected by a bar c,which is adapted to take a bearing against the wall, when the rack is extended, and hold it a sufficient distance away therefrom.
D, D, are braces, one at leach side, and connecting the parts A and B. Said braces are pivoted at their upper ends to the intermediate portions of the vertical pieces of the part A, their opposite end portions being formed each with elongated, longitudinal slots d, which engage a pin e on the side piece b. At the lower extremity of each of the slots d, is an offset f, which is designed to engage the pin when the parts are extended, and hold the frames A and B in the proper relation to each other, as shown in Fig. 1.
When not in use, the rack may be folded by disengaging the pins e from the offsets f, allowingV the frames A and B to fall into parallel relation with each other, the slots d allowing the braces to assume corresponding positions. Thewall brace is also folded upwardly and forwardly against the main frame, allowing the rack to fall back against the wall.
K is a suspension cord for the wall brace, and preventing it from falling too low in extending the rack.
Having described this invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A folding clothes rack comprising a main frame A having means for its suspension', a secondary frame B hinged or pivoted atits upper portion to the upper portion of said main frame, braces D, D, pivoted at one end to the side portions of said main frame and having elongated slots engaging pins on the side portions of the secondary frame, offsets in said slots for locking engagement with said pins, and a wall brace O pivoted to the main frame and extending backwardly therefrom, all of said parts being arranged to fold into close and substantially parallel relation to each other, substantially as specified.
