Beit known that I, JAMES WILLIAM ROGERS, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at London, England` have invented a new and useful Improved Manner of Renewing the Wearing Parts of Heels of Boots or Shoes, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to so forming heels for boots and shoes that the wearing part is made detachable and attachable at will, as hereinafter described.
To enable this invention to `loe properly un-` derstood, I will proceed to describe thesame which- Figure l, is a perspective view illustrating the main or body part of a heel inverted with the wear-ing part made separate according to this invention and removed. A, is the heel proper, and B, the wearing part, made to be att-ached and detached to part A, at will as follows: Connected to the part A is a catch device C, to engage aspring tongue catch D, formed from a plate E, secured to under side of wearing part B. The front of the plate E, at F, passes under the plate C', when the part B,is attached as at Fig. 4, and the spring tongue D, springs into the catch Cas at Fig. 3, which secures the part B, to the part A, and so completing a heel.
When the part B, becomes worn it is easily v A heel formed according to this invention cannot be detected from one made up in the usual way.
Having now described my invention, what' I desire to secure by. Letters Patent ofthe United States is- In a renewable heel, the combination of the fixed part A cut away along the rear lower portion; the catch O provided with overhanging wings C', the detachable part B` cut away near the center thereof, the plate E having wings F adapted -to engagebetween ysaid wings C and the fixed portion A of the heel; andthe spring clip 'D adapted to engage the 'catch C,substantially as and for the purposes described.
