COMPOSITION FOR EXTERMINATING CANADA THISTLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 517,861, dated April 10, 1894. Application filed December 19,1893. Serial No- 494,098- (No specimens.)
turpentine, four ounces; pine tar, one ounce;
butyrio ether, one-half ounce.
The ingredients are mixed as follows: Dissolve the tar in the bi-sulphide of carbon, then add the turpentine and mingle thoroughly by agitation. Next add the butyric ether and let the compound stand twenty-four hours, when it is ready for use.
In practice, the compound may be applied as an internal injection, if the thistle is hol- :0 low, or it can be poured upon the stalk and allowed to run down upon it.
What I claim is The herein described composition of matter to be used in exterminating Canada thistles, 25 consisting of bi-sulphide of carbon, turpentine, pine tar, and butyric ether, combined substantially in the proportions specified.
