Be it known that I, THEODORE N. J ONES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Greeley,in the county of 'Weld and State .of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horseshoes; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,

In the drawings, A represents the shoe as an entirety, and B. O. D. the respective sections. The hoof section B is made of metal with the usual nail holes I), the toe slot 17, the toe ridge, rib or calk b and the heel ridges b b running longitudinally, and also screw holes in place. This serves the purpose of taking the brunt off the screws when a horse stubs his toe and also to resist any forward or backward displacement of tread D. The section also has round lugs 02 whichfit into holes 0 in section 0. These lugs 01 are for the purpose of increasing thethickness of metal attheir several places, asholes are made through thetread D and lugs 61 at center of lugs d for screws to pass through and a recess or counter-bore made in tread D for screw heads, the depth of counter-bore sufficient that when the horses weight comes on the shoe it will not-cushion enough to bring the heads of the screws to the surface. The section D is also reinforced with metal at toe d to increase its thickness where the principal wearcomes, which fits into a corresponding cavity at the toe of section 0. the said cavity being also marked with letter 0 Having thus described my invention,what

I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-

1. Ahorse-shoe made of three sections B, O, and D, the innerand outer being of metal and the middle one of elastic material, the first section B being secured to the hoof by nails, and the other two sections 0 and D being held to section B by screws passing through, and heads countersunk in section D-through1ugs d, on through holes 0 in O, and terminating in corresponding holes threaded in B, as shown and described.

2.'The tread section D having the toeridge d in combination with the sections B and 0 having respectively the toe slots 1) and 0 through which said ridge passes, to prevent forward or backward displacement of the tread D, as described.

3. The section B. having the down flange b in combination with the section 0 having a rabbet to receive said flange, and the section D having a calk d passing through the slots 1) and 0 respectively and in front of said flange, as shown and described.

4. The section 13 having threaded holes in combination with sections 0 and D having corresponding holes for screws to pass through, countersunk in D for heads and terminating in B, thereby connecting the complete shoe, as set forth and described.

5. The tread section D having the lugs d, the hoof section B having holes whose interior walls are threaded and which register with the lugs, the rubber section having holes 0 and the connecting screws d whose heads are countersunk in the section D, all combined as shown and described. IO
