Description
y .UNITED STATES p PATENT OFFICE.
MAXv OASPARI, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
`HoRsiasHor-z.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 295,616, dated March 25, 1884.
Application filed December 12, 1883. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom t 'may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX OAsPAEI, of Detroit, in the county of Vayne and State of Michigan, `have invented new and useful Improvements in Horseshoes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part in this specification.
`This invention relates to an improvement in horseshoes; and the invention consists in the peculiar construction of the sole of the shoe, whereby the necessity of calks is obviated. 4
In the drawing which accompanies this specification my improved horseshoe is shown in perspective, with a part taken away to show perforations forsecuring the shoe with` nails to` the hoofs. `The bearing formed by the ridges is even all around, and is made sharp enough to perform the function of calks. For gaining all the desired benefits of the shoe, .I make the same of steel, of proper malleability to allow of its being fitted to any horses foot.
The advantages my shoe has shown in practice arethat it last-s fully one monthin any kind of work without being removed. It makes it impossible for any horse to injure itself in interfering. It will effectually prevent slipping on ice, snow, or hard and slippery ground, and it also obviates the necessity of sharpening, as the double ridge will last until the shoe is worn out.
What I claim as my invention is- In a horseshoe, 'the combination of the two ridges a b, formed upon the sole of the shoe, and following the inner and outer contour thereof, withA the intervening sunk portion,
which is formed with sloping sides and rounding bottom, substantially as and for the purposes described.
MAX OASPARI.
