SWORD-BELT AND HANGER.

T whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LAURENT H. ALLIEN, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Sword-Belt and Hanger, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates to an improvement in sword belts and hangers therefor, and it has for its object to provide a hanger which, together with the sword, may be expeditiously and conveniently removed from the belt or placed in connection therewith, the removal and replacement of the hanger being effected without necessarily displacing the coat of the wearer of the belt, or disengaging or upturning the belt; and a further object of the invention is to provide a hanger attachment for sword belts which will be exceedingly simple, durable and economic in its construction.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth and pointed out in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar figures and letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved sword' belt and its hanger. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective View of the hangingloop of the belt. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the hanging loop of the belt, and the clip of the hanger shown in engagement with the loop; and Fig.4 isa vertical section taken practically on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2.

The sword belt Ais provided with ahanger loop B at one point in its length, and the said loop or keeper, as shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4, is substantially triangular in general contour, the contracted end or apex being at the top, and the lower or wider portion of the loop or keeper is curved in an outwardly direction, so that the lower end is considerablyin advance of the vertical plane of the upper end of the keeper, as is clearly illustrated in Fig. 4, and adjacent to the outwardly curved lower end of the keeper or loop a bar is formed therein, extending from side to side,

whereby an eye 11,.is produced. The usual shield 12, is located'at the back of the hanger keeper or loop, said shield being attached to the belt in any approved manner.

The hanger section 0 of the belt consists of the usual straps 13 and. 14, provided with the ordinary or with any approved form of snaps 15. The two hanger straps 13 and 14 are united at their upper ends by a binder 16, of any approved construction, the said binder being adapted also to hold in place the sword hook 17. In the upper end of the binder, or at the upper end of the connected hanger straps, an eye 18, is formed, and the said eye is adapted to connect with the hanger'section of the belt by a snap D.. This snap consists ofa body portion 19, having an eye 19 formed at its lower end, inwardly projecting lugs 20 produced adjacent to the eye, and the upper portion of the body is curved inwardly and downwardlyforming a hook 21. Atongue 22 is pivotally connected to the ears or lugs 20 on the body of the snap, and the said tongue is made very broad at itslupper end, as is likewise the upper portion of the body of the snap, and the tongue is normally held in engagement with the hook 21 of the snap body by means of a spring 23.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 7 1. The combination, with a sword belt provided with a keeper, the lower end of which is formed with an eye and has a downward and outward inclinatiomof a sword hanger and a snap located at the upper end of the hanger, the tongue of the snapbeing at its inner sideand the snap being adapted for engagetnent with the lower end of the keeper, as and for the purpose set forth.

The combination, with a sword belt and a substantially triangular keeper connected therewith, the lower end of which keeper is formed with an eye which projects downwardly and outwardly beyond the lower edge of the belt, of a sword hanger comprising straps connected at their upper ends and provided with a sword-recei vin g hook, and a clasp pivotally connected with the upper end of the hanger, the said clasp consisting of a broad body section having its upper end inturbing the uniform or upsetting the belt,
