SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 512,599, dated January 9, 1894:.

To all whom it may concern: I

Be it known that I, GEORGE BEENHARD, of Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Convertible Boxes or Coops,

of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to packing boxes or cases and'is in the .nature of an improved convertible box or coop and the invention consists in the novel constructions and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In the drawingsFigure 1 is a top plan view of the box with the cover sections removed or partlybroken away to show the gable sections in the box. Fig. 2 is a perspective view with the gable sections in place and Fig. 3 shows the completed coop.

The box A may in general respects be of ordinary construction and the top sections B, preferably two as shown, are of suitable size to form a cover therefor. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. An improved coop or the like comprising the box-having permanent and rigidly connected sides, ends, and bottom, the top end sections applied to the ends of the box and adapted to be stored in said box within the space between its sides and ends, retaining devices whereby to secure the top end sections on the ends of, the box and the cover boards applied longitudinally to andbetween the top end sections and adapted to be applied longitudinally between the box ends, substantially as set forth.

2. The improved coop herein described consisting of the box having permanent and rigidly connected ends, sides and bottom,the top end sections applied at their lower edges to the upper edges of the -box ends and adapted to be stored entirely within the space between the sides and ends of the box, interlocking devices between the lower edges of the top end sections and the box ends, the upper'edges of the said top end sections being made in gable shape and the top sections applied to and extended longitudinally between the'gable edges of the top end sections, on oppositesides ofthe crown thereof whereby to form the ventilating spaces at the edges of the cover all substantially as shown and described.
