UNLOADING AND STACKING APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 510,937, dated December 19, 1893. Application filed May 17, 1893- Serial No. 474,584. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN J. SOHRAG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Valentine, in the county of Harvey and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Unloading and Stacking Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combined unload ing and stacking apparatus, and it has for its object to provide an improved apparatus of this character, wherein headed grain can be easily and readily unloaded onto a stacker, and elevated onto the stack without scattering or blowing about.
To this end the main and primary object of the invention is to combine the unloading and stacking of beaded grain in a single ap paratus having efficient facilities for this purpose.
With these and other objects in view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated and claimed.
In the accompanying drawingsz-Figure 1 is a side elevation of an unloading and stacking apparatus constructed according to this invention showing the parts of the apparatus in their proper relative positions. Fig. 2 is a central vertical horizontal sectional view of the construction shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail in perspective of the grain or header box, removed from the wagon running gear, and the front side door being open.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Arepresents a hay stacker of the ordinary construction having the swinging fork arms 13, controlledin the usual manner, and carrying at their outer ends the lifting fork O. The lifting fork C at the outer extremities of the fork arms of the stacker, is entirely inclosed at its sides by the fork boxing D, the opposite side pieces of which boxing are pr vided with the end notches E, for the purpose to be presently described. By reason of boxing the fork in, as described, headed grain can be elevated to the stack with as equal facility as long hay. The boxed stacker fork, when in its lowered position, is adapted to re ceiveits load of hay from the portable grain or header box F. The portable grain or N, which is adapted to header box F, is mounted on the wagon running gear G, in the same manner as an ordinary wagon box, and is provided with an outer closed side- H, and an opposite inner open side I which open side is formed between the declining end walls J, of the box, and forms the side discharge opening therefor, and is adapted to be inclosed by the hinged side door K. The hinged side door K, is hinged to one bottom edge of the box F, and is held in its closed position over the open side I, by the securing hooks L, engaging eyes Z, at opposite ends of said box, and when the said side door is unhooked, it drops into the end notches E, of the fork boxing D, so that the grain or header box opens directly into the boxed fork, when in its lowered position while at the same time such side door prevents the grain from working out over the outer end of the fork box. Arranged within the grain or header box F, near its open discharge side, in close proximity to one edge of its bottom, is the pivoted not bar M, to which bar is secured one end of the unloading net be placed inside of the grain or header box. The unloading net N, has secured to its free extremity the outer not bar 0, which when the net is arranged inside of thebox is adapted to rest on the supporting pins P, projecting from the outer closed side of the box. An engaging ring p, is connected with the outer net bar 0, and is adapted to receive the hook end of the draft rope Q, passing through the stacker and operated by the same power that elevates the grain .onto the stack. Now it is thought that. the construction and operation of the hereindescribed apparatus will be readily apparent. When the boxed stacker fork is in its lowered position, the headed grain wagon is wheeled up alongside of the outer end of the fork, with its load of headed grain, which is placed within the box on top and inside of the unloading net, arranged inside of the box as previously described. Having brought the wagon along side of the fork, the side door K, is dropped into the end notches of the fork box, and the draft rope Q, placed in engagement with the ring connected to the outer free end of the net. The power is now applied and the unloading net swings on its pivoted bar M and rolls the entire load of headed grain into the box fork. The draft rope is now discon-' nected from the netand connected with the means for elevating or lifting the fork to throw the grain onto the stack in the ordinary manner.
Changes in theform, proportion and the minor details of construction as embraced within the scope of the appended claims, may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination of an open boxing adapted to inclose a stacker fork and provided with end notches designed to receive the side door of a header box, and an unloading device for transferring the load from a header box into said open boxing, substantially as set forth.
2. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination with the header box having a door-inclosed side discharge opening, of a net bar M, pivoted at its extremities inside of said header box and at a point within the side discharge opening, the unloading net N,
attached at one end to saidpivoted-met bar which turns with theinevementzor-the net, a
draft rope adapted to be connected to the outer free end of the net, and supporting pins attached to one side of the header box near its upper end anti-adapted to support the free end of thevnet when in position within the header box, substantially as set forth.
3. In an apparatus of the class described, the combination with the header box having a door-inclosed side discharge opening, of a net bar M, pivoted at its extremities inside of said header box and at a point within the side discharge opening, the unloading net N, attached at one end to said pivoted net bar which turns withthe movement of the net, and a draft rope adapted to be connected to the outer free end of the net, substantially as set forth.
