SUSPENSION ATTACHMENT FOR SOAP.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 508,809, dated November 14, 1893.

Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. BREUL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspension Attachments for Soap; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form' a part of this specification.

My invention relates to an improved attachment adapted to be applied to a cake of soap, whereby the latter may be suspended by means of a chain or bracket in proximity to a wash bowl or sink.

\ Heretofore attempts have been made to provide an attachment, such as above described, but they have proved more or less inefficient owing to the inherent defects, and have not therefore gone into general public use.

The object of myinvention is to provide an improved device which can be pushed through a cake of soap from end to end, and securely held therein with a projecting loop, with which a chain or bracket may be connected.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.

The manner of using the invention is as follows: The plate 10, and the

5, 5, are connected together by passing the ends of the latter through the apertures in the plate and bending or clinching the same, and the device is then pushed through a cake of soap, which can readily be done when the latter is fresh, until it projects through the opposite end. I

The attachment is of such length, that when applied to the cake as before stated, and the ends of the arms passed through the apertures in said plate, the doubled or bent ever end will project a short distance beyond the opposite end of the cake,iforming a looplo, with which the link 7 engages.

From the above it will be seen that it is not necessary to form a hole in the cake previous to applying the attachment, thus eifecting a saving in time and labor in securing the device to the cake.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1.An attachment for a cake of soap, comprising a metal rod bent over upon itself at the center, and a disk-shaped plate having a depression in its outer face and apertures through which the ends of said rods pass, substantially as and for the purpose described.
