Be it known that I, CLARA ABELL, of Baldwinsville, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in lVashcloth-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention consists in a hand implement of novel construction, substantially as hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim, more particularly designed for holding wash cloths used in washing various vessels or utensils, without danger of scalding the hand by the water when hot, and within which the hand cannot or at least conveniently be inserted to hold the cloth, and which implement may also be used for holding a cloth to wash the back or other part of the person not readily accessible to the hand. It also, by a suitable construction, as hereinafter specified, may be used for drawing bake and other tins or pans out of the oven.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device; and Fig. 2 is a broken elevation of the same with the wash cloth in place therein.

The implement, which may be of any desired length, is mainly composed of an elongated frame made of wire I), with a tin or other backing d, uniting the approximately parallel lengths of the wire, which extends beyond the backing in front and is there doubled upon itself to form a spring coil or double loop 0, adapted to receive a wash cloth f, at or about the middle of its length within it, that is, between the opposite sides or faces of the coil. The opposite ends of the wire I) are bent down,

as at g, into hook shape, the use of which will be hereinafter explained.

To use the implement for washing purposes as described, the back or hook end of the appliance is placed against the person while the wash cloth f is drawn well back by the hands, at or about the middle of its length, between the faces of the springloop c. The whole thus forms a sort of mop and the holder a secure means for retaining the cloth in place without tearing or puncturing it and admitting of the ready removal of the cloth when required. The implement, thus holding a wash cloth at its one or front end, can be conveniently used to wash out, with hot or boiling water, fruit jars, glasses, lamp chimneys and small pitchers that will not admit of the hand within them, and this without risk of scalding the hand in the use of the cloth holder. It can also be used for washing those portions of the back or other parts of the person not readily accessible to the hand. Furthermore, by taking the forward or loop end of the implement in the hand and reversing its position for use, the hooks g may be used for drawing, with increased convenience, bake and other tins or pans from the oven of a cooking stove or range.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The within described implement, constructed of an elongated wire frame I), a backing d, a spring coil or double loop 0 at one end of the frame, and hooks g at the opposite end, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
