Be it known that we, JOHN STIRLING lVIC- in the county of Iosco and State of Michigan,i

have invented a new and useful Drying Attachment for Scrubbing-Brushes, of. which the following is a specification. K

Our invention relates to improvements in 1o drying attachments for scrubbing-brushes;

the objects in view being to provide an attachment capable of being readily applied to any of the ordinary forms of scrubbingbrushes; to be so constructed as to collect the water or moisture upon the surface scrubbed by a movement of the device away from the operator, thus preventing wetting the feet of the operator; to provide for an adjustment of the rubber drying-strip, and for conveniently zo securing the same in position upon the device. With these objects in view the invention consists in certain features of construction hereinafter specified and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In constructing the attachment We prefer to form the same of malleable cast-iron, and it consists of a water-box l, oblong, and of a length about agreeing with that of the brush.

4o The front wall of the water-box is inclined or slanting with relation to the bottom, and the rear Wall at its lower edge is provided with a series of serrations or corrugations 2. From the rear Wall there extends in a rearward di- 45 rection and from the ends thereof arms 3 formed integral with the box and inclined or tapered toward their outer ends. These arms are provided with perforations 4 threaded for the reception of screws. From the rear wall 5o at the center thereof and near the lower edge scrubbing-brush 13.

Interposed between the upper side of the plate 8 and the lower edges of the box and having its rear edge seated in the recesses 7 formed in the block 5 and arms 3 is a rubberstrip 14, the same being clamped in position 8o through the medium of the plate reinforced by the springstrips ll and bound by the screw-eyes l2. This completes the construction of the attachment, whose operation, though obvious, we will describe as follows:

In scrubbing the box is inverted, as is usual, the brush being employed in the ordinary manner, and when it is desired to dry the surface scrubbed the brush is inverted, bringing ,the rubber strip against the wet surface by 9o pushing the brush from the operator, the pressure against the rubber strip serves to yieldingly press backward the spring-plate, and
