Description
No. 502,082. Patented July 25, 1893.
'sggQQ-Tr NEW@ mmaly UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT E. MOREY, OF AKRON, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE AKRON TOOL COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
JOURNAL FOR BARROWS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 502,082, dated July 25, 1893.
Application iled April 29, 1893. Serial No. 472,390. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT E. MoREY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Journals for Barrows, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has a general relation to improvements in that class of barrows used for carrying rough heavy loads of slag, ashes, dac., and has special relation to means for providing the wheel shaft with a strong reliable journal or housing.
The objects of my invention are to provide a journal for the wheel shaft which can be readily applied and removed and which can be replaced when worn without a complete overhauling of the barrow.
To the aforesaid objects my invention consists in 'the peculiar and novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter described and then specifically claimed; reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
In the drawings in which similar reference numerals indicate like parts in the diiferent views, Figure l, is a side elevation of an ordinary ore barrow embodying my invention. Fig. 2, is a front elevation. Fig. 3, is a side elevation of my invention, and Fig. 4, is a plan of the same.
In the drawings, 1, is the frame work of the barrow, upon which and fastened thereto is a body, 2. The frame projects in front of the body, 2, and is turned down at an angle of about thirty degrees. This frame forms three 1, by a bolt passed through the ears, 7, 7, and
in practice it is preferred' to pass this same bolt through the free ends of two braces, 8,8, and thus one bolt forms a support for these two braces as well as serves to clamp the clip around the frame. Should the hole which serves as a journal for the shaft, 4,become worn all that is necessary to replace the bearing is to remove the bolt and unclasp the clip and put on a new clip.
A journal bearing for barrows consisting of a clip perforated to receive the shaft and provided with two'embracing arms arranged to be clamped around the frame of the barrow substantially as shown and described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I hereunto set my hand.
. ALBERT E. MOREY. In presence of- C. P. HUMPHEEY, C. E. IIUMPHREY.
