3 U ITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM ROWLINSON, OF ENGLEWOOD, ILLINOIS.
SUPPORT FOR KITCHEN-BOILERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 501,733, dated July 18, 1893. Application filed April 8, 1893- Serial No. 469,582- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM ROWLINSON, of Englewood, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have inventeda new and Improved Support for Kitchen-Boilers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved kitchen boiler support, which is simple and durable in construction, adapted to be readily fastened in place and arranged to securely hold the boiler in position.
The invention consists of brackets adapted to be secured to the kitchen wall, and a seat for the boiler and held in the said bracket and adapted to be held to the kitchen wall.
The invention also consists of certain parts and details, and combinations of the same, as will be hereinafter described and then pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improvement. Fig. 2 is afront elevation of the same; and Fig. 3 is a sectional plan view of the same on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
The improved kitchen boiler support is provided with two L-shaped brackets A and A specially formed with a circular opening for the passage of pipes leading continuously from the bottom of the boiler outwardly, to thewater front of the heater, and adapted to be fastened with their vertical members A and A to the wainscoting B, attached to boards 0 nailed to the studding D in the usual manner. The horizontal members A and A of the bracketsA. and A respectively, are adapted to support the seat E formed in its main portion and on top with a circular depression E adapted to receive the lower edge of the boiler F, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2.
' In order to prevent sidewise movement of the seat E, I provide the latter on the under side with ribs E and E fitting on the outer side edges of thevhorizontal members A and A of the brackets A and A respectively. The rear end of the seat E abuts against the wainscoting B and on this rear end of the seat is arranged a downwardly-extending ear E fastened by a screw G or other means to the Wainscoting B, as plainly indicated in Figs. 2 and 3. Thus, the ribs E and E prevent sidewise movement of the seat E, while the screw G prevents vertical movement so that the seat is securely held in place on the brackets. It will be seen that by this arrangement the cumbersome stand now usually employed for supporting a kitchen boiler is entirely dispensed with, thus permitting cleaning the floor below the boiler and preventing accumulation of dirt. It will further be seen that as the seat E is in its main portion ringshaped, as indicated in Fig. 3, sufficient space is furnished for the passage of the pipes leading to the bottom of the boiler F, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2. It will further be seen that as the L-shaped brackets are formed with circular openings, space is furnished for the passage of the pipes leading from the bottom of the boiler outwardly to connect with coupling attached to a heater.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A kitchen boiler" support, comprising brackets adapted to be secured to the kitchen wall, and a seat for the boiler and held on the said bracket and adapted to be fastened to the kitchen wall, substantially as shown and described.
2. A kitchen boiler support, comprising L- shaped brackets secured with their vertical members to the kitchen wall, a seat having a circular depression for the reception of the boiler, the said seat being fitted onto the horizontal members of the said brackets, and transverse ribs formed on the under side of the said seat and fitting the outer sides of the horizontal members of the brackets, substantially as shown and described.
3. A kitchen boiler support, comprising L- shaped brackets formed with a circular opening and secured with their vertical members to the kitchen wall, a seat having a circular depression for the reception of the boiler, the be fastened to the kitchen wall, substantially said seat being fitted onto the horizontal as shown and described.
members of the said brackets transverse ribs formed on the under side of the said seat and WILLIAM ROWLINSON 5 fitting the outer sides of the horizontal mem- Witnesses:
