PIN GAGE.
No. 499,035. Patented June 6; 1893.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUST PIECZKA, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
PIN-GAGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 499,035, dated. June 6, 1893. Application filed January 14,1898. Serial No. 458,340. (a. model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUST PIECZKA, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pin-Gage Micrometers, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of a pin gage micrometer of novel construction, adapted for ilelifiate adjustment, as will be hereinafter set ort Figure 1 represents a longitudinal section of a micrometer embodying my invention. Figs. 2 and 5 represent side elevations of different portions of the same. Fig. 3 represents a bottom View, and Fig. 4 represents a top View of the part shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 6 represents a top View of the part shown in Fig. 5. Fig. 7 represents a side elevation of different forms of pins that may be employed.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings:A designates a micrometer screw, to which is fitted the head of the sleeve B, the lower end whereof has graduations O, the lines of which extend in the longitudinal direction of said sleeve.
To the inner end of the screw A is fitted the cylindrical plug D, which is adapted to be freely encircled by the sleeve B,and provided with graduations E, the lines of which extend circumferentially on said plug.
The outer end of the screw A is hollow, and its wall is split, forming a chuck which may be clamped against the pin F which occupies said end, the clamping being accomplished by means of a nut G, which is fitted on the seen that when either part or both parts are rotated, the micrometer may be easily adj usted with greatest precision, even to the small possible fraction of an inch.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A micrometer gage consisting of ascrew with split end, and a clamping nut therefor, a plug working on one end of said screw, and a sleeve working on said screw and embracing one end of said plug, said sleeve and plug having graduations thereon, said parts being combined substantially as described.
' 2. A micrometer gage consisting of a screw, a plug working on one end of said screw, a sleeve on said screw and embracing one end of said plug, and a nut within said sleeve working on said screw, and a threaded portion of said plug, said plug and sleeve having graduations thereon, said parts being combined substantially as described.
AUGUST PIECZKA.
