IMPROVEMENT I N PLows.

Specification forming part cf Letters Patent No. "49,816, dated September 5, 1865.

To all whom t may concern:

Beit known that I, Fi. G. WHITING, ot'NortE- held, in the county of Bice and State of Minv-nesota, have invented a newand Improved Plow 'and I do hereby declare that the followin g is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which willenableothers skilled in the art'to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making appart ol' fthis specification, in which-#- Fi'gre 1 is a side view of my Invention; Fig. 2, a front view of the same; Fig. 3, a side view of the parts before bent inlproper form; Fig.' it, a transverse section of Fig. 1,'taken inthe me w as.

On thejfront edge of the share there is placed a steel strip, F, which may be secured in position by a bolt, bx, and this strip has acolter, G, which projects upward above the share. y

When worn out the strip F and colter G niay'be readily det-ached and replacedby new ones.

At the frontpart of the plow,rjn'st above tim, share E, there is a steel plate, II, of trilateralv 7 form, bolted to. the standard.- This plate H forms the front part et' the moldwboard, I being the remaining part 5 and to thelandside of the plow there are bolted two steel plates, C C, partial-ly shown in Fig. l.

' By this arrangement it lwill 'be seen that I obtain a steel=cased plow the plates of which may be replaced atauy time when wear or breakage demands, and one'which may be con structed or manufactured at a small'cost and of any ofthe known forms. I do` not claimmaliing a share or sheth or plow-standard.

I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentf v Lapping t-heforward portion of the shareE around the standard C, as described, and represented at Ab bQFig. 4.
