DEWITT VAN EVERA AND SEBASTIAN BRAND, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNORS TO SAID VAN EVERA AND THE BRAND STOVE COMPANY,
(LIMITED,) on SAME PLACE.
EXTENSION-MAGAZINE FOR STOVES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 497,559, dated May 16, 1893.
Application filed September 26. 1884- Serial No, 144,042. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, DEWITT VAN EVERA.
and SEBASTIAN BRAND, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, and in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Extension-Magazines for Stoves; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
Our invention relates to improvements in extension magazines for coal stoves and will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawings Figure l is a broken perspecive View of a coal stove fitted with our extension magazine. Fig. 2 is a broken view of the magazine. Fig; 3 is a plan view of the magazine extension and Fig. 4 is a central vertical section, showing the construction of the same.
The present invention is an improvement on the device described in the specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 240,056, granted to Dewitt Van Evera, April 12, 1881, and its object is to construct the said device 2 5 in a manner to be more conveniently adjusted as desired.
A represents the upper part of the magazine which may be stationary or movable and is suspended over the fire-box of any coal o burning stove in the ordinary manner. Upon the outer surface of the lower portion of the part A is formed a series of short lugs a a a, the relative position of which is such as to form an interrupted spiral around the periph- 5 cry of the magazine drum. These lugs are designed to support the adjustable portion B of the magazine. This latter consists of the two semi-circular segments 1) I) provided with outer flanges b 19' through which are passed suitable fastening bolts. A groove or corrugation B formed spirally in the inner periphery of the portion B receives the lugs a a a of the lugs 12 b formed on the outer face of the adjustable part B. This latter may be turned about the part A of the magazine extension, so as to be raised or lowered as needed. The other parts of the extension magazine may remain substantially the same as in the patent before referred to. By having the adj ustable part B of the magazine made in two sections, the molding of the same is rendered a very easy matter, whereas if the same were in one piece it would add materially to the cost of production to provide for a successful formation of the spiral groove that engages the lugs on the stationary portion A of said magazine.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire ters Patent, is
1. In a stove, the fuel-magazine A provided 7 with the lugs a a a spirally arranged on the exterior thereof, in combination with the loose extension B consisting of two detach-ably connected sections corrugated upon the interior to form a spiral groove in engagement with said lugs and exteriorly provided with the projections b substantially as set forth.
2. In a stove, the fuel magazine A provided with the lugs a a a spirally arranged on the exterior thereof, in combination with the loose extension B consisting of two detachably con to secure by Let-
