To all whom, it may concern:

Be in known that I, SiEPHAN SZIGETHY, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Candelabra, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has reference to an improved construction of candelabra, or candleholders which are used in the service of different religious denominations,` said improvements relating to a novel construction of the head by which the candlecarrying arms are supported; and the invention consists of a candelabrum the head of which is open at one side and provided with two concentric rings having radial recesses for supporting the candle-carrying arms. A centerscrew is attached to the head and serves in connection with the 'screw-nut for attaching the face-plate to the head, said face-plate having a circular flange of smaller diameter than the inner ring of the head, said ange serving as an abutment for the arms while they are held in position by the recesses of the head and the clamping action of the faceplate, as will be fully described hereinafter and finally pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l represents a side-elevation of my improved candelabrum. Fig. 2 is a side-elevation of the head of the same, on an enlarged scale. Fig. 3 is a side-elevation of the head, with the face-plate or cover removed, and Figs. fl and 5 are horizontal sections, respectively on the lines 4 il, Fig. 2, and 5 5, Fig. 3.

Referring to the drawings, A represents the upright standard or pillar of my improved candelabrum, to the upper part of which the head B is attached bya suitable screw. The head B serves to support the adjustable arms C C, to which the candle-holders or sockets C are applied. The head B is composed of a main portion, which is open in front and comprises two concentric rings or anges b o, which are provided with radial recesses F so as to permit the insertion of the arms C accordingly as they are to be arranged in hori zontal position or at an upward or downward inclination to the horizontal position. For this purpose each ring is provided with three recesses at each side, one recess for each position of the arms. To the center of the open face-head B is applied a screw D for receiving a nut E, as shown in Figs. 2 and A. The screw-bolt and nut serve for holding the faceplate or cover B of the head B rigidly in position and clamping at the same time the candle-carrying arms C, so that they are firmly held in position in the head. The face-plate B is provided with a circular iiange h", which is of a slightly less diameter than the inner diameter of the inner ring of the main portion of the head B, as shown clearly in Fig. 4. The flange of the face-plate B serves as a stop or abutment for the arms C C when they are inserted in the recesses of the head B. When it is desired to change the position of the arms, the face-plate is released from the same by unscrewing the nut E so that the arms can be removed from the recesses and inserted into any other pair of recesses, the inner ends. of the arms being always stopped by the flange or abutment o' of the face-plate, so that they always resume the same position in the head, B of the candelabrum. In this manner the arms can be adjusted with great facility and placed in any position required.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. The combination, with the open face head of a candelabrum, said head having two concentric flanges and radial recesses in said lianges, of candle-carrying arms inserted in said recesses, a face-plate having a circular fiange or abutment for the arms, and means for fastening the face-plate to the mainportion of the head so as to clamp the arms firmly in position, substantially as set forth.
