Description

(No Model) I. EVERS. DEVICE FOR FORMING GIGARETTES.
Patented May 2, 1893.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRITZ EVERS, OF HAMBURG, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR FORMING CIGARETTES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 496,475, dated May 2, 1893. Application filed December 21, 1892. Serial No. 455.876. (N model.)
useful Improvements in Devices for Forming Cigarettes, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to a device for forming cigarettes which is of simple construction and possesses a number of advantages over those now in use.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of my improved device for forming cigarettes; Fig. 2 a cross section on line A, B, Fig. 1; Fig. 3 a top view of the device and Fig. 4 a cross section on an enlarged scale.
The letter a, representsa sheet metal mold of circular form in cross section and open on top. To the mold a, there is'secured by pivot 12, a tongue 0, adapted to fold into the open top of the mold.
In use, the tongue 0, is raised, the wrapper cl, is placed against theinner face of the mold,
the tobacco is packed into the wrapper and the tongue is pressed down upon it. Next the wrapper is united over the tongue, the tongue is raised together with the cigarette and the latter is slipped off the tongue, when the operation is completed.
The advantages of this device are that thick and thin cigarettes may be formed by it, that the adhesive of the wrapper does not come into contact with the tobacco and that the latter may be packed by a simple pressure to any desired extent.
What I claim is A device for forming cigarettes which consists of mold a, open on top and of a pivoted tongue 0, adapted to fold into such open top, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
