IMPROVEMENT IN FUNNELS.

To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I. JOHN Q. HILL, of the city and county of Worcester, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Funnels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and letters of reference marked thereon, forming a part of this specification.

The drawing' represents a longitudinal central section of my improved funnel.

A represents the upper half or bowl part, which is made Haring, as usual, and C represents the small tubular end or neck which enters or is inserted into the bottle, jug, or other vessel when in use.

The parts A and C are united as follows: Piece B is soldered or otherwise fastened to the lower part of A, and has a screw-thread cut on its lower outer periphery, while the socketpiece I) is soldered or otherwise fastened to the top of C, and has a screw-thread cut upon its inner periphery to receive the screw-thread cut upon the pieceB. When piece B is screwed down it rests upon a shoulder, b, upon the inside of D. Before the end B is screwed into the part D a circular strainer, a, is dropped in, so that its periphery will rest upon shoulder upon thcmouth ofthe bottle or other vessel, and` keeps the funnel quite even and steady. Collar or ring c may be formed o1' cast with and constitute a part of D, or it may be made separate and slipped on.

This funnel can be used with or withoutthe strainer a, and hence combines all the advantages of the old funnel, and in addition thereto that of astrainer and percolator, which is quite important for druggists.

Having described my invention, what I claim therein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The parts A, B, Q, and D, in combination with each other and the removable strainer a, substantially as shown and described.
