INSECT-TRAP.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 495,091, dated April 11, 1893.

Application filed January 31, 1893. Serial No. 460409. (No model.) Patented in Germany February 26, 1892, No- 66,810.

To a whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WALDEMAR J ENISCH, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Bromberg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receptacles for Containing and Exposing Fly-Paper; and

I do hereby declare the following to be a full,

clear, and exact description of the invention,

such as will enable others skilled in the art to to which it appertains to make and use the same.

66,810, and has for its object a construction and arrangement of parts of such character as to present aneat and even ornamental appearance, in marked contrast to the custernary unsightly method of displaying the paper in plain view in shallow uncovered vessels.

sheet metal, fitting the one within the other so as to form a receptacle, one of whose parts is provided with open-work consisting of perforations constituting an ornamental design, as shown. Chains 7 or the like extend 0 from the flanges 8 to a ring 9 by means of which the receptacle may be suspended from a chandelier or other suitable support.

Within the receptacle is to be arranged adjacent to the open-work, so as to show throiiglrit, a layer of poisonous fly-paper 10,

which is held in place by an inner perforated former 11, preferably of incorrodible metal, and whose function is to hold the paper smoothly against the open work in order that it may be easily accessible by the flies and in order to have it present an attractive appearance as seen through the perforations. I

also preferably select paper of a color contrasting agreeably with the metal, so as to heighten the ornamental efiect and to take away as far as possible the suggestion of the real function of the device.

A sponge 12 within the receptable rests against the protecting piece 11 and supplies the poison liquid to the fly paper, thereby keeping it continually moist, while, at the same time, the inclosed character of the receptacle prevents excessive evaporation.

In the form of the invention shown in Figs. 3 and 4, which represents a box-like receptaole, adapted to rest upon a table, mantel, or

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. Means for displaying poisonous fiy-paper, comprising a receptacle having perforations or open-work, a backing of poisonous fiy-paper, and a sponge supplying liquid to said paper; substantially as described.

2. Means for displaying poisonous fly-paper, comprising a receptacle having perforations or open work, a backing of poisonous fly-paper, and a sponge supplying liquid to said paper and means for suspending the receptacle; substantially as described.

3. Means for displaying poisonous fly-paper, comprising a receptacle having perforations or open-work, a backing of poisonous fly-paper, and a sponge supplying liquid to said paper and a perforated former between the sponge and paper; substantially as described.

4. Means for displaying poisonous fiy-paper, comprising a receptacle having perforations or open-work, a backing of poisonous fly-paper, and means for supplying liquid to said paper; substantially as described.
