SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 491,953, dated February 14, 1893. Application filed August 81, 1892. Serial No. 444,688. (No'modeL) To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, LEONARD Z. PRESTON, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Champion, in the county of Chase and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Endless Carrier-Belts; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable 0th- [0 ers skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to improvements in endless carriers or conveyor belts.

The object of the invention is to provide an endless carrier of improved construction; and it consists in the construction and combination of the parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification: Figure l is a per- 2 5 spective view of an endless carrier constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of the cross-bars. Figs. 3 and 4 are detailed views.

The side pieces or supports are provided with apertures through which pass setscrews 0., which bear upon the boxings, said boxings being grooved exteriorly and movable between the supports A as shown.

C C designate sprockets or links, which are preferably provided with dovetailed grooves on one side to receive the cross-bar D, said cross-bar being rigidly secured to the links by bolts 0. It will be observed that these links are curved on their under sides on the same circle as the sprocket-wheels. Two, three or more links may be secured upon the barD. The endless belt, E, which is preferably made up of canvas is placed against the upper side of the cross-bar D, and over the same is placed a second cross-bar F, having upwardly projecting pins.

The cross-bar F is rigidly secured to the cross-bar D by bolts, and the I pressure of the cross-bars upon the .belt will hold the same securely in place.

G designates one of the links of the sprocket-chain, the same being provided on each end with hooks which engage with the crossbars of the links C,or H. It will be observed that the links have apertures through which the teeth of the sprocket-wheels pass.

An endless apron or carrier belt constructed as herein shown is simple, and the links can be readily detached by placing them in the position shown in the drawings and sliding them laterally.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In an endless carrier belt, the combination of a cross bar D having links rigidly secured thereto, the cross-bars of said links being located below the plane of the underside of the cross-bar D, an upper cross-bar bolted to the cross-bar D so as to retain the belt between said cross-bars, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.

2. In an endless apron or carrier, the combination of the links C having dovetailed recesses in their upper sides, a cross-bar D rigidly secured to said links, a sprocket-chain adapted to engage with the cross-bars of said links, an apron secured to the upper edge of the cross-bar D, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.

In an endless carrier, the combination of the linksC rigidly attached to a cross-bar, D, a bar F having upwardly projecting pins, and bolts for securing the same to the cross-bar D, of a belt secured between the cross-bars D and F, and links constituting the links C and endless chain, said endless chain being adapted to pass over sprocket wheels which are mounted in adjustable bearings, substantially as shown.
