HAME-TUG.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 489,007, dated January 3, 1893.

To aZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EUGENE L. HOWE, of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, haveinvented a new and useful Improvement in Hame-Tug Clips, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved harne-tug clip; and Fig. 2 is an end view of the same, partly broken away.

My invention relates to the clips employed in attaching the tug to the hame, and is designed to furnish a cheap, strong and efficient clip therefor,together with a loop for holding the end of the tug section.

In the drawings, in which similar numerals indicate like parts, 2 represents the body of the clip, which consists of a rod twisted at its middle portion to produce the loop 3 at right angles to the plane of the bolt or cross-bar 4. This cross-bar consists of a tube which joins the ends of the parallel portions of the clip, and through it passes a screw rod 5, which engages the screw-threaded ends of a loop 6, and unites the parts together. The loop is of U-shape in general outline and its ends are connected tothe end portions of the clip. The ends of the clip body and loop are recessed as shown, and the shoulders of each part are rounded so as to allow a slight amount of play or movement between the clip-body and the loop.

In the use of the device, the loop 3 is secured to the hame and the connecting strap to the bar 4, the draft-tug strap passing beneath the loop 6 which holds the same securely in place.

The advantages of the clip are obvious; it being strong, simple, and cheaply made, while it presents a neat and attractive appearance.

I claim:

1. A hame-tug clip composed of a rod, twisted to form an end-loop 3, and extending thence to form substantially parallel sidebars, a separately formed loop of general U- shape, whose ends are applied to the ends of said side-bars, and a cross-bar extending across the clip and connecting the ends of said loop with the ends of the side-bars; substantially as and for the purposes described.

2. A hame-tug clip, composed of a rod, twisted to form an end loop 3, and extending thence to form substantially parallel sidebars, a separately formed loop of general U- shape, whose ends are applied to the ends of said side-bars a cross-bar extending across the clip and connecting the ends of said loop with the ends of the side-bars, and an interposed tube through which the bar passes; substantially as and for the purposes described.
