H. SIBGERT. COMBINED INKSTAND AND PENHOLDER.
w J @W "provided with two perforations a a UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HUGO SIEGERT, OF BRESLAU, GERMANY.
COMBINED INKSTAND AND PENHOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 487,396, dated December 6, 1892. Application filed March 28,1892. Serial No. 426,745. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGO SIEGERT, a citizen of the Kingdom of Prussia, residing at Breslau, Prussia, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Inkstand and Penholder, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to apenholderjoined by a flexible tube to an inkstand. The latter is provided with a valve or rubber bulb for forcing the ink into the holder from time to time, as may be needed.
The invention consists inthe various features of improvement more fully pointed out in the claims.
The accompanying drawing represents a perspective view of my improved combined ink-bottle and penholder.
The letter A represents a suitable ink bottle or reservoir closed on top by a plug 0., Into the perforation a there projects one end of a long tube a, reaching to near the bottom of bottle A. The upper end of tube a is coupled to a flexible hose 1), which is coupled in turn to the upper end of a hollow penholder 0. Through the second opening a of plug a there projects a short tube d, that reaches only into the upper part of bottle A. The upper end of tube d is provided with a rubber bulb or a suitable valve d, which upon compression forces the ink into the penholder through tube 7). Of course I may connect more than one tube 11 to the bottle, so that a number of pens may be simultaneously fed. The advantages of my device are obvious. Dipping is dispensed with, the ink in the bot tle A is preserved from direct contact with the air or dust, the bottle will not spill when upset, the pen is uniformly fed, and the ink will not clog or dry up. Moreover the well-known objections to fountain-pens are avoided.
What I claim is- 1. The combination of an inkstand with a flexible tube connected therewith and a penholder connected to the flexible tube, substantially as specified.
2. The combination of an inkstand with a flexible tube connected therewith, a penholder connected to the flexible tube, and a flexible bulb d, connected to the inkstand substantially as specified.
3. The combination of inkstand A with perforated stopper a, a pair of tubes a 03, of unequal length, projecting through the stopper into the stand, a flexible tube b, connected to the tube a a flexible bulb (1, connected to tube d, and a penholder connected to the tube 19, substantially as specified.
Signed at the city of Breslau, Germany, this 12th day of March, A. D. 1892.
