F. M. TRIBBETT. SAWBUGK.
No. 486,415. Patented Nov. 15, 1892.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS M. TRIBBETT, OF ABINGDON, ILLINOIS.
SAWBUCK.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 486,415, dated November 15, 1892.
I pplication filed December 19, 1890. Serial No. 375,274. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.
' Be it known that I, FRANCIS M. TRIBBETT, a citizen of the United States,.residing at Abingdon, in the county of Knox and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sawbucks, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of the construction and arrangement of two counterbalance-hooks attached to a sawbuck and operated by means of a treadle and connecting-rods to hold the wood firmly while being sawed.-
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a sawbuck A,to which are pivoted at B B the counterbalance-hooks D D, which are provided with arms E E, to which are attached the connecting-rods F F,which in turn are attached to the treadle G, and this is pivoted to the buck at H H. Hooks D D are also provided with weights at J J, which are of sufficient weight to counterbalance the hooks D D, arms E E, rods F F, and treadle G and hold them in the position shown when not in use. Weights J J are provided with hooks L L to hang the saw on when not in use.
Fig. 2 is a view of hooks; Fig. 3, a view of treadle and connecting-rods.
To operate my improved wood-holder, place the wood on the buck in the usual manner, put foot on the treadle, causing the hooks D D to press the wood down in forks of buck and hold it while being sawed, and release it when weight is taken 0d the treadle.
What I claim as new, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The counterbalancehooks D D, having arms E E, weights J J, hooks L L and pivoted at B B, and treadle G, and rods F F, all arranged to operate and hold wood firmly while sawing it, substantially as set forth and described.
FRANCIS M. TRIBBETT.
