EAVES-TROUGH HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 484,347, datedOctober 11, 1892.

To a/ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIS E. TULLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Willink, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Eaves- Trough Hanger, of which the following is a specilication.
The invention relates to improvements in eaves-trou gh hangers.
The object of the present invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive eaves-trough hanger adapted t0 be readily applied to an eaves-trough and capable of vertical adjustment to secure the eaves-trough in a desired position and to counteract sagging.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a transverse sectional view of an eaves-trough supported by a hanger constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the hanger detached. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the front section.
Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
1 designates an eaves-trough hanger, comprising a supporting-rod 2, which is adapted to be secured to a roof, and front and rear eaves-trough receiving-sections 3 and 4, which are secured to the lower end of the rod 2 and thereby suspended from a roof. The rear section consists ot a horizontal portion extending transversely of an eaves-trough 5 and provided with a perforation 6 and a curved portion 7, extending beneath the eavestrough and beyond the middle of the same and conforming to the configuration thereof and adapted to hold the same. The lower end S of the rod 2 is threaded and provided with upper and lower clamping-nuts 9 and 10, between which the horizontal portion of the rear section is secured. The rod 2 is arranged near the middle of the eaves-trough, and the front section 3 extends from the rod to the bead 11 at the front of the eaves-trough and is provided with a hook or open eye 12, which is adapted to be sprung over the bead and receive the same. The inner end of the front section 3 is provided with an angular slot 14, extending from one side of the section 3 inward and arranged at an angle to the length of the section. The slot is adapted to receive the lower end of the rod 2, and the inner end of the front section is interposed between the lower nut and the rear section, and the parts are clamped by turning the lower nut, the particular arrangement of the slot 14 preventing any lateral movement of the inner end of the front section.
The sections 3 and 4 are constructed of band metal, and are adapted to be readily applied either to a new eaves-trough or to one in use, and it will be seen that the hanger is simple and comparatively inexpensive in construction and that all soldering, crimping, or the like are dispensed with.
The upper portion of the rod is arranged at an angle to the lower portion and is provided at its upper end with a flattened portion having perforations adapted to receive nails, bolts, screws, or the like, whereby the hanger is secured to a roof.
What I claim is- 1. An eaves-trough hanger comprising a supporting-rod having its lower end threaded and provided with upper and lower nuts, the
front and rear of an eaves-trough and adapted to hold the same, one of the sections being provided with an opening to receive the rod and the other being provided with a slot arranged at an angle to the length of the section and adapted to receive the rod, substantially as described.
2. An eaves-trough hanger comprising a supporting-rod having its lower ends threaded and provided with upper and lower clamping-nuts, the rear section extending transversely of an eaves-trough and provided with a perforation and having a depending curved portion extending beneath the eaves-trough and conforming to the configuration of the eaves-trough receiving-sections engaging the same, and the front section provided at its my own Ihave hereto affixed my signature in outer end with a. bead-receiving hook and the presence of two witnesses. having at its inner end a, slot arranged at an angle to the length of the section and 5 adapted to receive the rod, substantially as Witnesses described.
