Be it known that I, EDWARD LEGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, which will enable others to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front elevation; Fig. 2, a side elevation; and Fig. 3 a plan on line 3, Fig. 1, lookingin the direction indicated bythe arrow.

This invention relates to an improved shoeholding attachment for display-xtures; and it consists of certain novel features in construction, arrangement, and operation, as will be hereinafter set forth.

Referring to the drawings, A represents a stem, on the upper end of which is mounted the shoe holding and adjusting mechanism. The lower end of the stem provides for a proper connection or attachment to the bars or other parts of ashow-stand. (Not shown.) A head-piece B is secured to the upper end of stem A and is cut out on its respective sides or edges to provide recesses a ce. The lower ends of the adjustable angle, clamping, or holding jaws C C are provided with knuckles o. a', engaging loosely with the recesses or notches in the head-piece, and are movably retained therein by pivot-pins h b, forming a hinge joint or connection between the headpiece and clampingjaws. These jaws are provided on their under or outer sides with projecting lugs d d, to which are pivoted the upper ends of the connecting-links d d.

A slide or ball D is loosely mounted and has a vertical movement on the lower part of the supporting-stem.

This slide is provided on opposite sides with lugs g g, to which are pivoted the lower ends of connecting-links d d. By moving the slide upwardly the clampingjaws are made to swing inwardly in the direction of each other on their hinged joints and clamp or hold a shoe or other object placed therebetween. Movin gthe slide downwardly retraots or opens the jaws. This slide may be locked in any position to which it is capable of being adjusted by means of the thumb-screw 71..

The relative supported position of ashoe is indicated by dotted line in Fig. 2. This arrangement provides a simple and convenient device that is easily manipulated and presents a novel adjustment.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. In a shoe-holder, the combination of a supporting-stem, a head-piece mounted on the upper end thereof, the companion clampingjaws hinged to said head-piece, the slide mounted on the lower part of said stem, and the companion links connecting said jaws and slide, whereby a vertical adjustment 0f said slide imparts a swinging movement to said jaws, substantially as set forth.

2. In a shoe-holder, the combination of the supporting-stem, the head-piece, the clamping-jaws provided with lugs on the under side and hinged to said head-piece, the movable slide provided on opposite sides with lugs, and the connectingelinks pivoted at their upper ends to the lugs on said jaws and the lwer ends pivoted to the companion lugs on said slide, substantially as set forth.
