GUTTER OR VALLEY ON ROOFS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 480,602, dated August 9, 1892.
Application filed October 23, 1891. Serial No. 409,640. (No model.)

I attain this object in the following manner, as illustrated in the accompanying drawlng.
A flat board or metal strip B of sufficient width to cover gutter or valley A is laid over the gutter or valley outside the shingles or slate, leaving a cold-air space between said board or metal strip and the gutter or valley. Said board or metal strip is fastened to the 20 roof by hook C, over apex of roof, and clamp E at or near the eaves.
E is a screw-eye in the lower and under side of the board that lies in the roof or gutter. Another screw-eye is put into the crownmold under the caves, and the two screw-eyes are connected with a common wire hook.
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent The board or metal strip covering the gutter or valley laid over whatever forms the roof, thereby creating a cold-air space between the bottom of board or metal strip B and gutter or valley A, said board or metal strip being fastened by hook C and clamp E, substantially as set forth above.
