GAME APPARATUS. I

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 478,100, dated July 5, 1892.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, PERCY SINCLAIR FAULK- NER, gentleman, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at 41 Jewin Street, in the city of London, England, have invented a New Parlor Game and Means of Playing the Same, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has reference to a new parlor game which I call Flickem. For the purposes of the invention 1 provide a box of cardboard or other suitable material, in which is folded a square collapsible frame of cardboard or other suitable material, which frame having been unfolded and put uprighton the bottom of the box forms what is called the pool, and is placed in aconvenient position on the table or floor.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents in perspective the box or base of my device. Fig. 2 represents an end view of the collapsible frame as it appears when folded. Fig. 3 represents a perspective View of the said collapsible frame unfolded and ready to be set up, and Fig. at represents a perspective view of the complete device.

A is the bottom of a shallow tray, made of card-board or other suitable material. This bottom is provided with side walls a a a a made of similar material.

B B B B are fiat square pieces made of material similar to that of the said tray. These pieces are united at their side edges with some flexible material, such as cloth, rubber, or the like, so thatthe said pieces may be folded fiat, as shown in Fig. 2, and then conveniently packed away in the tray. This tray may be provided with any ordinary cover, so that it will serve as a receptacle for the whole game, including the cards, hereinafter moreparticularly mentioned, when not in use or before it has been sold at the counter.

When the game is to be played, the parts B B B B are opened, as shown in Fig. 3, and then the lower part is inserted into the tray, in which it fits snugly, thus making a box open at the top, as shown in Fig. 4:. I next provide four sets of cards, each set being of a different color and consisting of twelve cards, of which four are marked 1, four 2, four 3, equaling forty-eight cards altogether. The cards are of different thicknesses to test the skill of the players, No. 1, the thickest, being thrown into the pool the most easily, and No. 3, the thinnest, with the most difliculty.

The game may be played by any number of persons, among whom the cards are distrib uted, all the red cards to one, the green cards to another, and so on. The players, either sitting or standing, as may be agreed upon, take their places at equal distances from the pool-six to twelve feet, according to the skill of the players. The first player endeavors to throw one of his cards into the pool. If he succeeds in getting in a card marked 1 he scores one, if a card marked 2 he scores two, and if a card marked 3 he scores three. He may throw all his cards before the second player commences, or all the players may throw their cards alternately, as may be decided by mutual consent. All the cards having been thrown, the contents of the pool are sorted and added up, and the player who has made the highest score is the winner. Should there be a tie for first place by reason of two or more players having scored alike, these players must play a deciding final by again throwing a set of cards.

Having now fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent is A set of cards consisting of series distinguished from each other by indications to mark those of the different players, the cards of each series differing individually in weight and correspondingly marked with indications of different Values for use in a game ofoardplaying by throwing or flicking, substantially as set forth.
