Description

(No Model.)
W. G. ROBINSON. HOLDER AND SUPPORT FOR MILK UANS.
No. 477,454. Patented June 21, 1892.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WVILLIAM G. ROBINSON, OF MORRISON, ILLINOIS.
HOLDER AND SUPPORT FOR MILK-CANS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 477,454, dated June 21, 1892. Application filed January 30, 1892. Serial No. 419,794. (No model.)
To all whom it may conccrm' Be it known that I, ILLIAM G. ROBINSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Morrison,in the county of lVhiteside and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders and Supports for Milk-Pails and other Vessels; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representa tion of the invention and is a perspective View. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section.
This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in pail-holding dcviees; and it consists in the novel construe tion and combination of parts, as hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates a continuous piece of wire formed at one end into a small depending loop a, the upper side portions of which are coiled tightly around a bar or bolt B. Said piece is then extended rearward to form an enlarged elongated loop 0, the side portions of which are curved out of the horizontal plane of the loop.
D is a second continuous piece of wire, one end portion of which is formed into a small loop (I, is coiled loosely around the bar or bolt 13, and is extended rearwardly at approximately right angles into a downwardly-curved parallel-sided loop E, located in the plane and centrally of the loop 0.
F is a small looped arm having loose bearings on the rear portion of the loop 0 and projecting forwardly to about the central portion thereof.
The device is applied toa pail with theloop E raised, the loop a lying within and against the inner wall of the pail. The loop E is then brought down into the plane of the loop 0, which carries the loop d toward the loop a,
and clamps the pail securely between said loops. The arm F is then brought over onto the loop E and fastened thereto by a sliding, locking, or clutching clasp G, which locks the parts firmly in position, their spring action forming a secure clamp. The upper side portions of the clamping-loop d are recessed or bent, as shown at d d, to receive the head or rim y of the pail. By applying two of these clamps at diametrically-opposite points convenient and effective means is provided for holding a pail or bucket while milking, the curved loops O resting on the legs and supporting the pail or bucket and preventing itfrom slipping.
Having described this invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- I 1. A pail holder or support comprising the parallel clamping-loops, one of which is loosely connected to a transverse bar or bolt and the other fast to said bar or bolt, the rearwardlyprojecting enlarged supporting-loop, the locking-arm carried by said loop, the loop-arm E, carried by said bar or bolt, and the sliding lock or clasp arranged to engage said arms,
substantially as specified.
2. A pail holder or support comprising the parallel depending clamping-loops a and d, said loop at having its upper side portions coiled tightly around a transverse bar or bolt 13, and the loop (I, having its upper side portions loosely coiled around said bar or bolt, the enlarged elongated loop 0, projecting rearwardly from said bar or bolt and integral with the loop a, the loop-arm E, arranged centrally of the loop 0 and also carried by said bar or bolt, the locking-arm F, carried by the rear portion of said loop 0, and the sliding clasp arranged to lock the arms E and F,substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I aiiix mysignature in presence of two witnesses.
WVILLIAM G. ROBINSON. Witnesses:
