SPADE-PLOW.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 476,684, dated June '7, 1892.

Application filed February 26,1892. Serial No. 422,886. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, IVASILI PICHNO, a subject of the Emperor of Russia, residing at Kiev, Russia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spade-Flows, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to a plow in which the plowshare is in the shape of a vertical coucavo-convex disk, which turns the furrow by revolving under the traveling action of the carriage. The plowing effect may be increased by providing the share peripherally with a series of spades.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figures 1, 2, and 3 are a side, plan, and longitudinal section, respectively, of a plow embodying myimprovements. Figs. 4, 5, and 6 are a vertical section side, and rearviewof the plowshare and parts moreimmediately connected therewith.

The beam a is fastened below the axle d, and upon the ends of the latter are mounted the carrying-wheels Z) c. Fastening to the beam a by screw-bolts e f is a plate g, the bolt 6 forming a pivot for the same, while the bolt f admits of the adjustmentof the plate by playing in a segmental slot in the same. The vertical concavo-convex plowshare Z is provided peripherally with a series of spades m, and said share Z is suspended from the plate g through the medium of a horizontal stub-shaft is, carrying at one end plate 91, rigidly bolted to said share at the rear thereof, said shaftk bearing in boxes 19 1), connected to the plate g. By loosening the screwf, moving plate g, and again tightening said screw the plowshare Z can be adjusted to occupy a greater or less lateral inclination relative to the longitudinal axis of the machine. On the carriage, in the rear of the axle d, a tool-box r is mounted, the cover 8 of which forms a seat for the driver.

In use the plowsharelmust be set so that its shaft will be at an angle relative to the sequently vary the position of the plow Z to cause it to out deeper or shallower, as may be found desirable. It will be understood that the concavo-convex plowshare may be used minus the spades.

1. In a plow, the combination of a supporting-frame, a horizontal adjustable plate secured thereto to rock on bolt e, means, substantially as described, for clamping said plate in the desired adjustment, the stubshaft mounted in the boxes carried by said plate, and the concavo'convex disk rigidly secured on one end of said shaft, substantially as set forth.

2. In a plow, the combination of the wheeled supporting-frame, a plate secured thereto and horizontal adjustable means for clamping the plate in the desired adjustment, boxes carried by said plate, a stub-shaft mounted in said boxes and provided with a plate 72, rigid on one end, the concavo-convex disk Z, rigidly secured to said plate 92, and the inclined spades rigid with and projecting from the edges of said disk, substantially as set forth.
