SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 475,067, dated May 17, 1892.

Be it known that I, HUGH O. RISDON, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Game Apparatus, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.

My invention consists of a game apparatus formed as hereinafter described.

Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a game apparatus embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a vertical section thereof. Fig. 3 represents a perspective view of the parts in condition for transportation, 850.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.

Referring to the drawings, A designates a frame formed of uprights or side pieces B 0, said piece 0 extending at or abouta right angle to the piece B. Connected with the frame are chutes D, which extend in zigzag direction from top to bottom of the frame. At the lower end of the chutes, excepting the bottom one, are throats E, and the portion of the side piece B of the frame through which the lower chute projects has a throat F. To the sides of the chutes are secured the uprights G, on which are mounted the fly-wheels H, and another fly-wheel H is mounted to the frame A in the throat- F on the bottom thereof. The frame A, with its appurtenances, is supported upon the base J, one port-ion of which forms a field K, in which are numbered pockets to receive the ball L, which constitutes part of the game apparatus, it being noticed that the lower chute D has its discharge end D adjacent to said field K. It will also be noticed that the base J has a rim or fence M around the same, and the frame A is of such dimensions that when it is disconnected from the base it may be turned sidewise and placed on the base within the rim M, thus forming a convenient package for transportation or storing, the rim preventing displacement of the frame, as will be seen in Fig. 3.

The operation of the game is as follows: The ball L is placed on the upper chute D and let go, whereby it reaches the throat E and drops through the same upon the chute below it, and so continues throughout the series of chutes, the ball in its passage striking the wheels H and rotating the same, thus adding interest to the game. When the ball passes through the throat F, it is directed by the discharge end D of the lower chute upon the field K and impelled with considerable force thereover, when it finally enters either of the pockets or not, as the case may be, the pocketing of the ball counting for the player. It will also be seen that the side pieces 0 of the frame-A conceal the throats E of the chutes, so that it will appear to the player, if a child, amatter of mystery how the ballpassed from one chute to the other, it being noticed that the side pieces 13 of the frame are also uncut or unbroken at places adjacent to said throats and also serving to conceal said throats.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A game apparatus having a frame closed on two sides, with an exit-throat, and open on the remaining sides, a series of alternating zigzag inclined chutes abutting against the said closed sides and located over a closed portion of each successive chute, wheels suspended over said chutes and also in the throat of one of the closed sides, and a base having a field on which said frame and its appurtenances are supported, said base being formed with a rim within which the frame may be fitted and packed, said parts being combined substantially as described.
