. THE M UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARRIE H. FREELOVE AND CLEMENTINE E. WELOH, OF MCPHERSON, KANSAS.
STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 472,755, dated April 12, 1892.
Application filed November 23, 1891. Serial No. 412,802 (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, CARRIE H. FREELOVE and OLEMENTINE E. WELoH, citizens of the United States, residing at McPherson, in the county of McPherson and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to an improvement in attachments to stoves, which will be hereinafter more particularly described and pointed out.
In the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, the figure represents the improvement applied to a stove in elevation,
showing also in broken lines the air-pipe triced up to the ceiling of the room, so that the heater can be removed from the stove.
A is a stove.
B is the attachment placed on top of the stove, with the lower part I) inserted in one of the openings of the stove. This attachment should be made of cast-iron and the bottom made tight.
0 is a hot-air pipe having the upper end hinged to the ceiling E of the room in such a manner that it can be triced up out of the way at 6 when the heating device is not wanted for use.-
c c are register-holes in the cap of the heater B, and are covered with Valves d (1, one of which cl is represented as being closed, and the other d is open.
F is an opening in the upper floor, having a register f. The object of this heater is to have it removable, so that when the hotairis not wanted to heat the upper room-as, for instance, after the morning hoursthe airpipe (lean be triced up high enough to be out of the Way and the heater B can be lifted from the stove, so that the hole may be used for cooking, &c.
We are aware that aheating apparatus has been permanently attached to stoves, and we do not broadly claim such; but
What we do claim is The combination, With two compartments, one above the other, and having an opening from one to the other, of a pipe, as O, hinged to the ceiling of the lowercompartment near the said opening and a heating attachment incommunication with the lower end of said pipe and provided with openings in its top for the admission of air, substantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
