Be it known that I, FRANK E. I-IOUSH, a cit-izen of theUnited States, residingat Brattleborough, in the count-y of lVindham and State of Vermont, have invented certain new-and useful Improvements in Garment-Stretchers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. p l

This invention relates to improvements in garment-stretta ers, which will be hereinafter more particulai described and pointed out.

A A are two clamps constructed in the usual manner, having the adjustable metal straps a and thumb-screws a. On the inside ot the upper bar of clamp A is a metal flanged plate B, having jaws b, in which is pivoted a lever C, to the under side ofwhich is a levelI C', pivoted at c. The lower end of lever C is pivoted to a sliding sleeve D at CZ. In sleeve D is a set-screw E.

F is a rod, which has a handlef, and the rod F extends through holes in the upper bar of both clamps A A. On that part of the rod F between the sleeve E and clamp A is a loose coiled spring G.

Bring down the lever C to the position in Fig. 3 and the two clamps A A will be correspondingly separated, and consequently the material H will be stretched. Thesleeve D being adj ustable with a set-screw to secure it at any point on the rod F gives a great advantage in stretching the garments.V

Iclaiml 1. In a garment-stretcher, the combination of the clamps A A', the rod F, extending through and between the clamps and having thereon the sleeve D, regulated by the clampscrew E, and the toggle-levers C C,'substan tially as and for the purpose described.
