SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 462,590, dated November 3, 1891.

Application filed May 14, 1891. Serial No. 392,735. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GUsTAvE SOHWAB, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Albums, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain improvements in easel-album as pointed out in the following specification and claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a face view of an album constructed according to myinventlon. Fig. 2 is a transverse section in the planexm, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a similar section of a modification of the detachable pin-and-socket connection, detached.

In the drawings, the letter A designates an album,which is provided with the usual leaves C, the covers D D, and the back E. A suitable clasp E may be provided for retaining the album in its closed position. On the outside of one of the covers (in this case the cover D) is secured a bracket I, which connects with a standard G by a hinged detachable pin-andsocket connection. In the eXam-. ple shown in Figs. 1 and 2 this detachable pin-and-socket connection consists of a thilnble F, which is connected to the bracket 1 by a hinged joint i, and which fits the standard G loosely, so that the album can be readily attached to or detached from said standard.

In the example shown in Fig. 3 the detachable pin-and-socket connection consists of a pin F, which is connected to the bracket 1 by a hinge-joint r', and which fits loosely asocket formed in the standard G. The thimble F is provided with an arm J, which forms a support for the album when the same is brought into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2.

The standard G is firmly secured in the base-frame II, and in the example shown in the drawings the thimble F or pin F is round, so that the album can swivel freely on the standard G. If desired,however, the thimble For pinF may be made square or in any other form suitable for the purpose, if it is not desired to mount the album,so that it can be swiveled on the standard.

In the example shown in Fig. 1 the album is provided with two brackets I and mounted on the standard G, and in this case it cannot be swiveled round on the standards, but it can be brought intothe positions indicated by the full and the dotted lines in Fig. 2.

By employing a pin and socket detachably fitted one into the other the album can be removed at will from its supporting baseframe, and in this respect my invention differs from an album which is permanently hinged to a horizontal rod supported by apair of posts or standards on a base-frame.

Vhat I claim as new. and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The combination, with an album A and a base-frame H, of a bracket I, attached to the album, and a pin and socket detachably fitted one into the other, and one of which is pivoted to the bracket, for the purpose of removing the albnm at will from the supporting base-frame, substantially as described.

2. The combination, with an album and a stand H, of a bracket 1, secured to the album, a hinged pin-and-socket connection F G between this bracket and the stand, and a supporting-arm J, substantially as described.
