UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ISAAC NOAR, OF NEWV YORK, N. Y.
N EC KSCARF.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 461,766, dated October 20, I891.
Application filed April 2, 1891.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ISAAC NOAR, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neokscarfs; and Ido declare thefollowing to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawin gs, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of the invention in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a plan view. Fig. 3 is a detail view showing one of the pins.
This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in neckscarfs; and it consists in the novel devicehereinafter set forth. v
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating the invention, the letter A designates a necktie having the free end of its neckband provided with the loop B. This loop is formed of spring metal or wire, and consists of the parallel arms a a united by a rounded portion at one end. The opposite end of each of the armsisturned inwardly, and the two areunited at the center, one of them being extended to form the point or pin 1), which engages the neckband and holds the loop in place, 'although it may be also stitched in place.

sists of a series of looped pins d, placed in the same plane. These pins are of the form shown in Fig. 3, in which the head portion of the shank is shown as bent to form an oblong loop. This series of loops is adapted to rec ive the loop B on the end of the neckband, the parallel spring-arms of which will be compressed between the sides of the said loops or guides sufficiently to prevent its working backwardly unless withdrawn by the hand. By the arrangement of the parallel independent guides, as shown, I avoid the necessity of corrugating the side portions of the leader or loop. Each guide compresses independently the spring-arm a a, the effect of which is onmulative, and securely holds the leader.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A neckscarf having a leader, comprising parallel spring-arms and terminating at the outer end in a loop secured to the free end of the neckband thereof, in combination with a series of independent guides secured to the back of the scarf, each said guide being arranged to independently compress said springarms, whereby their actionis cumulative and said leader is securely held, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ISAAC NOAH.
