RUDOLF FLSOHE, OF HALLE, GERMANY..
CENTRIFUGAL MACHINE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 461,671, dated October 20, 1891.

10,361, and in Italy January 26, 1890, No. 26.873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUDOLF FLSOHE, residing at Halle-on-the-Saale, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Centrifugal Machines, (for which I have obtained patents in Germany, No. 55,037, March 17, 1889; in Austria-Hungary, No. 27,616 and No. 46,940, October 16, 1889; in Belgium, No. 86,764, June 25, 1889; in Sweden, No. 2,446, .Tune 27, 1889; in Italy, No. 26,873, January 26, 1890; in Spain, No. 10,861, December 25, 1889; in France, No. 199,177, June 25, 1889, and in England, No. 10,385, JL1ne26, 1889,) of which the following isa specification.
This invention relates to centrifugal machines; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
The drawing shows a vertical section through the machine.
A straining-drum l, of perforate material, is arranged inside an outer drum 2, such as usually used for the separation of liquids ofdifferent specific gravity. An annular separatingdisk 7 is placed over the straining-drum, and 8 is an annular flange depending from the disk 7 and having its central opening larger than the opening through the said disk 7. Over the disk 7 and inside the upper part of the outer drum a second separating-disk 5 is placed', having apertures a around its outside edge. A longitudinally-movable bent pipe 6 is supported in suitable stationary guideblocks and reaches over the two said disks into the space below the disk 7 inside the inner drum 1. A second longitudinally-movable bent pipe 4 is similarly supported and extends over the edge of the outer drum 2 into the space above the disk 5. When the drums are revolved in the ordinary manner, with the pipes 4 and 6 pushed in toward the center of the drum, the liquid and solid substances in the drum form a hollow cylinder inside the drum. The solid substances are washed by contact with the liquid, and the heavier portions of the liquid collect around the inside of the drum 2 and pass upward through the holes a.. The heavier liquid rushes up the pipe 4 by its own momentum `when the said pipe is pulled out sufficiently to dip into the liquid, and the lighter liquid is removed in a similar manner by pulling out the pipe 6. Additional liquid may be poured into the drum from time to time and the pipes 4 and 6 slid in or out, as found desirable, until all the solid substances are t-horoughly washed.
What I claim is- In a centrifugal machine, the combination, with the outer drum, of the inner drum of perforate material, the annular disk 7, secured to the top of the inner drum, the annular disk 5, provided with openings at its edge and secured in the upper part ofthe outer drum, the bent pipe communicating with the space below the disk 7, and the bent pipe communieating with the space above the disk 5, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribin g witnesses.
