SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 460,866, dated October 6, 1891.

Be it known that I, JAMES HILLs HART- 'county of Middlesex, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boxes, of which the followingis a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in boxes suitable for holding small articles and for toilet prepartions, ointments, powders, medicaments, the., and for like uses.
To clearly explain the nature of my invention, I will describe it with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a central section of the box.
In the form of box shown a rim a is employed, having Vertical sides, and in this is inserted what may be termed the body Z) of the box, consisting of a stamped cup or inverted dome-shaped receptacle having Vertical sides. This Vertical portion ex'tends above the rim, as shown at c, so that a shoulder is provided for the reception of the lid d. The
lid is preferably stamped up in the form shown, the edges being rounded and the top recessed.
The inverted dome'shaped receptacle or body is of advantage when the box is used for pastes or ereams, as it enables the whole of the contents to be readily removed, which is not the case with ordinary ointment-boxes, in which the contents lodging in the corners is usually wasted, and it is siniilarly advantageous in the case of small articles.
The material of which the box is made may be metal, card-board, or the like, capable of taking and retaining the shape given it by the stamping-dies.
IIaving now particularly described and ascert-ained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I clainl is- In combination, in a box, the supportingbase formed of a bottomless rim, the inner cup independently formed and having its sides attaehed to and projecting above the upper portion of the rim, said cup having a rounded bottom, forming a continuation of the sides down to the lower plane of the rim and constituting the box-bottom, saidbottom being` joined to the sides by a rounded corner, and the cover (Z, substantially as described.
