- UNITE STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
JAMES E. KEEFE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DEVICE FOR HOLDING TOOTH OR NAIL BRUSHES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 459,584, dated September 15, 1891.
Application filed December 12, 1890. Serial No. 374,501- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Beitknown that I, JAMES E. KEEFE, a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, and a citizen of the United States, have invented a new and Improved Device for Holding Tooth or Nail Brushes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- I Figure 1 is aperspective view of the holder or rack as it appears when fastened on the wall or otherwise, holding brush therein. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the rack or holder as it appears with two clasps. Fig. 3 shows the nail or rivet which the wire clasp or clasps are attached or soldered to. Fig. 4 shows the clasp which is attached to the nail, Fig. 3.
The object of my invention is to provide a rack or holder to be fastened to awall or other suitable place in which to lodge tooth or nail brushes of any size, which I accomplish as illustrated in the drawings and hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, A represents the nail or similar fastening device, which is driven into the wall or other fixed support, and to which the clasps B are attached, as shown in Fig. 2.
B is a clasp made of suitable material of a partly oval shape, coming near together at the ends, so that it will require pressure of the brush to enter the recess,- as shown in small I).
thereby prevent the brush slipping therethrough, while the contracted front end of the clasp or loop will prevent the brush from fallingforward.
The device is exceedingly simple in its construction and can be manufactured and sold at a slight cost. By its use the brushes will be maintained in their proper places and all danger of their loss is obviated.
VVh'at I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The improved brush holder herein described and shown, consisting of a central body having a pointed inner end and a headed outer end, wherebyit is adapted to be driven into a fixed support, and oval clasps rigidly secured to the sides of the said body and provided with contracted open front ends having curved inner walls, as specified.
JAMES E. KEEFE.
