To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ROBERT E. MCKAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Logansport, in the parish of De Soto and State of Louisiana, have invented a new and useful Plow, of which the followingis a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in reversible plows.

The object of the present invention is to simplify and improve the construction of reversible plows and enable them to be adjusted to any desired depth.

The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a reversible plow embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1' 1 designate handle-bars having their front portions parallel and their rear portions diverging, and the front ends of the handlebars are secured to the axle 2 of a wheel 3. The shares or blades 4 and 5 are secured to the outer ends of diverging standards 6, and are preferably different in construction and are of the forms desired. The standards 6 have their inner ends connected and secured to a curved rack-bar 7, and are connected to the ends of a cross-bar 8, which is pivoted intermediate its ends bya bolt 9 to the handlebars 1, whereby the standards are secured to the handle-bars. Both the standards and the cross-bar 8 are arranged between the parallel portions of the handle-bars, and the bolt 9 serves as a pivot on which the frame formed by the standards and the cross-bar turns to carry the shares or blades 4 and 5 to and from the wheel to regulate the depth of the blades or shares.

The shares or blades are adjusted by means of a cog-wheel 10, mounted on a shaft 11 and arranged to engage the segmental rack-bar 7, and one end of the shaft 11 is provided with a handle 12, by which the cog-wheel is rotated. The parts are secured at the desired adj ust- =ment by a double pawl 13, pivoted intermediate its ends, and being substantially U -shaped, with inwardly-bent ends adapted to engage the upper edge of the cog-wheel.

It will readily be seen that the adjustable and reversible plow is simple and inexpensive in construction and is adapted to be readily.

In Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawings I have illustrated in dotted lines the relative position, swing, and line of adjustment of the shares or blades. What I claim is- 1. In a reversible plow, the combination of the wheel, the handle-bars, the share-carrying frame pivoted to the handle-bars, the shares secured to the frame and arranged on opposite sides of the wheel, the curved rackbar secured to the frame, a cog-wheel arranged to engage the rack-bar, and means for securing the parts at any desired adjustment, substantially as described.

2. In a reversible plow, the combination of the wheel, the handle-bars, the share-carrying frame comprising the diverging standards and the cross-bars connecting the standards and pivoted intermediate its ends to the handle-bars, the shares secured to the standards, the curved rack-bar attached to the inner ends of the standards, a cog-wheel arranged to engage the rack-bar, and a pawl pivoted to the handle-bars and arranged to engage the cog-wheel, whereby the parts are secured at any desired adjustment, substantially as described.
