UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.-
JONATHAN SHERLOCK, OF MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
HANGER FOR WRINGING-MACHINES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 457,523, dated August 11, 1891.
Application filed April 28, 1891. Serial No. 390,794- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JONATHAN SHERLOCK, of Milton, in the county of Norfolk, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hangers for Wringing-Wlachines, of which the following is a description sufificiently full, clear, and exact to enable any person skilled in the artor science to which said invention appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure l is a side elevation of my improved hanger, showing the wringer in position; Fig. 2, a like View of the hanger, showing the position assumed in dismounting; and Fig. 3, a front elevation of the hanger, a portion being broken away to show one of the lockingpins.
Like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different figures of the drawings.
My invention relates to a hanger for supporting wringing-machines and which is especially adapted for use in stables and simi-v lar places for wringing polishing or wash cloths; and it consists in certain novel fea tures hereinafter fully set forth and claimed, the object being to produce a simpler, cheaper, and more effective device of this character than is now in ordinary use.
The nature and operation of the improvement will be readily understood by all conversant with such matters from the following explanation:
In the drawings, A represents the wringingmachine, and B the hanger, considered as a whole. The hanger comprises a face-plate b, to which two metallic brackets d are secured by bolts and nuts f. The brackets are each provided with a horizontal arm g, having a downwardly-turned end 7t and a verticallyinclined arm j, having a hook It on its outer end. The face-plate b is of suifieient length to receive the clamps of the wringer A, which in use is secured thereto. On a wall 0, in convenient position, two metallic lugs provided with horizontally-arranged eyes are secured. Vertically below each eye m on the wall 0 there is secured a curved lug p, which is provided with an opening suitable to receive a hook it on the bracket-arm j. The vertical end h of each bracket-arm g is provided with an opening suitable to receive the eye m, and the body of said arm 9 is provided with a Vertical pin-opening which is adapted to register with said eye.
In the use of my improvement, in adjusting the hanger the hooks k on the bracket-arms j are inserted in the openings of the lugs 19, as shown in Fig. 2. The hangeris then turned .upward into the position shown in Fig. 1, the lug-eyes m passing through the openings in the bracket ends h. Pins t are then passed through the pin-openings in the arms g and through said eyes, looking the hanger securely in position. The wringer may be attached to the face-plate b after the hanger is in position, or said hanger may be normally secured to said wringer, as desired. The hook ends it on the bracket-arms serve as pivots for the hanger, and said hooks being beveled, as shown at o in Fig. 3, prevent lateral movement of said arms when the hanger is mounted on the wall.
WVhen not in use, by removing the pin-st the hanger may be readily detached and stored with the wringer, only the lugs 07?. 19 being left on the wall to mar the appearance thereof.
Having thus explained my invention, what I claim isl. A hanger for wringing-machines, comprising a face-plate and two brackets secured thereto, one arm of each bracket being hooked to enter lugs on the wall, and the companion arm being provided with a pin-opening to register with an eye on said wall, substantially as described.
2. The hanger B, comprising the face-plate b and brackets 01 secured thereto, each bracket having a hooked armj and an arm g,in combination with the lugs 19 and eye'lugs m, attachable to a wall, and the fastening-pinst for securing the upper bracket-arms to said eye-lugs, substantially as described.
