FEED-BAG.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 457,086, dated August 4, 1891.

Application filed January 22, 1891. Serial No. 378.664. (N0 model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRANK S. KETCHUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Feed-Bags; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in theart to which itappertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention has relation to improvements in. feed-bags for horses; and the object of the invention is to provide aportable feedbag to be detachably secured to the tongue of a wagon, whereby the animals may be fed with comfort while hitched to the vehicle and as conveniently as they could be fed in a stall; and to these ends the novelty consists in the construction of the same, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings the same letters of reference indicate like parts of the invention.

Figure 1 is a viewin perspective of the end of a wagon-tongue, showing the feed-bags attached; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the bags detached from the tongue and folded when not in use.

A is the forward end of the wagon-tongue, and to its upper part is suitably secured a socket B.

C is a standard the lower end of which is inserted in the socket B when in use.

D D are two light frames hinged to each other and to the standard at cl and provided with circular openings cl (Z, in which are secured the flexible bags E E, and e is an ordinary spring-clip adapted to hold the frames together when folded, as shown in Fig. 2. The standard is provided with two brackets a a, upon which the frames rest when the device is in use.

The device is so plain and simple that further description seems unnecessary, it being readily seen that if the feed is placed in the bags at the stable and the bags then closed, as described, when feeding-time comes the standard is inserted in the socket, the bags opened, and the device is ready for use, and if any feed is left over the bags are closed and the spillingorloss of the feed prevented.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The combinatiou,with the standard having the brackets, of the frames hinged together and to the standard and provided with feed-containing receptacles, as setforth.

2. The combination,with the standard provided with the supporting-brackets, of the hinged frames provided w th the spring fastening-clip, as set forth.

3. The combination, with a wagon-tongue pro ided with a socket, as described, of the detachable standard provided with supportingbrackets and the hinged frames having the feed-containingreceptacles, substantially as shown and described.
