IMPROVE-D FLAT-IRON HOLDER.
Specilieation forming part of Letters Patent No. 45,58 l, dated December' 27, .1S-64; z xnt-edated July 1U, 1862.
To (IIL. n-hofm it may concern:
Be it known that l, FEEDER'rcK W. BROCK- sIEPEn., ot' New Britain, countwy oi" Hartford, and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Handles or Hoders for Sad-Irons, &c. and .l do hereby` declare that the saline'is'd eseri hed and represented in the tollowing,speciiication and drawings, and to enable others skilled in the art to make and use, the same, l will proceed to describe its constructionainl operation, referring to the drawing, in which the saine letters indicate like parts.
ln the accompanying drawingis shown one of'iny improved handles or holders, it. being turned in the usual way into the proper ordesirable shape, and also eut or made longitudinally into two or more parts, au, l(it is believed that the formation thereof in two parts will be the cheapest and best,) the inside of which are hollowed or milled out in the de sired shape., and the two parts a a are secured together by a. spring hinge or strap, d. d, or by other mechanical equivalents, so that the person using it-can hold it in the hand and readily apply it to the sad iron or other article which it may be desirable to irse it for, and
acts as a partial nonconductor of heat.
By the use ot' this improvement I am ena-bled to do away with the use o' the common ragholder, which is always liable to take lire and burn the hand ofthe user and do various other mischief), and to substitute a neat, convenient, and desirable artiele therefor, not liable to take tire, and is always read y and convenient for use.
l have endeavored brietly, nYet clearly, t show the nature, construction, and operation of my improvement to enable a. 'person skilled to make the saine, and also believe its advantanue will be fully understood therefrom.

handle or holder, made longitudinally in two or more parts, al a.. and securedtogether by spring-hinge d d or other mechanical equivalents, to act as a partial non conductor ot' hea-t, substantially in the manner as and for the purpose described.
