COMBINEDYTICKET-CASE'AND CASHBX.`
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 455,624dated July '7, 1891.
Application tiled March 1I, 1891.
form part of this speeication.
This invention has relation to ticket-cases, and has for its object the provision of a novel and ingenious ticket or card case and cash-box combined, which will serve to receive and properly display a large number of tickets or cards conveniently arranged for distribution, and will beprovided with properly-arranged and accessible receptacles for cash, the whole to be so arranged and constructed that the case may be easily and quickly closed and transported from place to place without disarrangin g the tickets or cash which may be contained therein..
My invention `consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts in a combined ticket or card case and cash-box, hereinafter described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in whichl Figure 1 is a perspective view of av case constructed according to my invention, the case being opened and ready for use. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same, with the card or ticket receiver resting over the cash-drawer and the lid of the case closed and Fig. 3 is'a plan view of the case with the ticket or card receiver removed. Y
The case A consists of a latrectangular box of sheet metal of any desired or convenient size and provided with a hinged lid I3, a suitable lock or catch a, anda handle l?, by means ot' which it may be conveniently carried, the handle being attached to the lid or to the body of the boX,-as may be desired.
Vithin the case is arranged a cash-drawer C, having anges c c at each end, which rest upon flanges a a on the inside of the ends of the case, so as to permit of the cash-drawer being moved backward or forward to gain ac cess to the body of the case below the drawer.
Serial No. 384,595. (No model.)
The drawer C may be made of wood or of sheet metal, and is provided with compartments d d d for the reception and proper disposition of cash in notes and coin.
D designates the ticket or card receptacle, which is composed of a nlunberof small compart-ments e e e overlapping `one another and arranged at a slightangle to the back of the receptacle. The uppermost row of the compartments e e is of yabout twice the depth of the other rows, the purpose of this construction being to provide largerreceptaeles for the tickets or cards most greatly in demand, and the other rows maybe graduated in size, if desired. The receptacle D stands in the upright position shown in Fig..1 when the case is open for the distribution of tickets or cards, and in this position rests upon a block E in the case A, and 'is held in this position by means of spring-clamp F upon the outer edge of said block. A brace G, which is pivoted at g to the side of the lid B and is pro- ,vided with a hinge at g', serves as an additional support for the ticket-receptacle, and when the case is closed is folded up against the Iside of the lid. The end of this brace lits up under a shoulder I'I, which is formed by projecting the uppermost compartment e beyond the back of the receptacle, and when the receptacle is in the position shown in Fig. 2 the shoulder H projects below the edge of the cash-drawer C and'serves to maintain the drawer in a iixed position. Upon the inside of the lid B are fixed a series of angularly-arranged plates I I I, each having its upper edgeA bent over to meet the lower edge of the next adjacent plate, and
the whole forming a guard which, when the case is closed,as shown in Fig. 2, will prevent the tickets or cards in the receptacle D from becoming disarranged. The edge of each of the plates I I is provided with a strip of felt t', which when the case is y closed will rest against the faces of the compartments e and serve to protect this part of the ticket-receptacle and the letters or words which may be imprinted thereon from defacement.
Having described my invention, I claiml. Acombined cash-box and card-ease consisting of an exterior case, a cash-drawer arranged therein, a ticket-receptacle, and means IOO for standing and sustaining,` the receptaclel in an upright position Within the case When the the movable card or ticket receptacle D, adapted to stand Within said ease in an upright position when the ease is opened and t0 rest upon and hold the cash-drawer in position when the case is closed, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing' I have hereunto set my hand this 18th day of February, 189i.
