JOHN wooK, or CANTO N, oruo, Ass enon or TWO-THIRDS- TO JAMES H. ELLER, or SAME PLACE.
EAVES-T'R'OUGH: HANGER.
SPEOIFIGATION'forining part of Letters Patent No. 453,990, dated June 9, 1891. Application filed January '7, 1891- Serial No. 376,967. (N model.)
To all whom it may concern: Y
Be it known that 1, JOHN WOCK, a citizen of the United States, residingat Canton, in the. county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eaves-Trough Hangers; andl do hereby declare thatthe following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings,
making apart of this speificatio, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in wnich Figure 1 is a transverse section of an eavestrough, showing my hanger properly attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a detached view of the hanger. Fig. 3- is a bottom or under side view of the cross-bar or bridge. Fig. 4 is a view Showing the hanger properly connected to the raw'edgeof an eaves-trough. Fig.5 isa view showing the cross-bar properly, hooked to the raw edge of an eaves-trough,showing the under band removed.
The present invention has relation to eavestrough hangers; and it consists in the dilferent parts and combination of parts hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out The end of the hanger-band A, calculated to be placed upon the raw edge of the trough B, is provided with the hook or groove a, which is formed by bending the end of said hangerband, as illustrated in the drawings. The 0pposite end of the hanger-band A is provided with the hook I), which is calculated to embrace the end of the hanger-band placed over parts in all the figures of the drawthe raw edge of the trough B. The hook bis originally'form'ed soas to easilyembrace the ridge 0, and, properly placed over said ridge,
,it is afterward compressed in any convenient and well-known manner, thereby securely seating the hook-b upon the ridge 0 and uniting the ends of the hanger-band'A together.
For the purpose of strengthening that portion of the hanger-band A which is located across the top of the trough B the strip 0 is provided, wliich strip is located upon the under side of the hanger-band A, and its edges bent so as to. form the flanges d, which flanges are located substantially at right angles to the hanger-band.
' For the purpose of securely holding the strip O'upon the hanger-band A the'ends of the flanges d are folded down upon the top of the hanger-band A, substantially as shown in Figs. 2 and 5.
- For the-purpose of suspending the trough proper from the eaves'ot' a roof the bar D is provided, which is attached to the hanger proper and to the building in the ordinary manner.-
Havingfully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, -is' The combination of the hanger-band A, provided with the hook or groove a, the ridge 0, and the hook I), and the strip 0, provided with the vertical flanges 01, substantially as and for the purpose specified- In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
