Description
(No Model.) I
' J. J. BUHOUP.
VAPOR 0R OIL BURNER. No. 452,861. Patented May 26, 1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN J. BUHOUP, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
VAPOR OR OIL BURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of LettersPatent No. 452,861, dated May 26, 1891. Application filed July 7, 1890- Serial No. 357,950. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, JOHN J. BUHOUP,a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vapor or Oil Burners, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention pertains to certain new and useful improvements in oil-burners, and has for its object the simple construction of the device, as hereinafter more fully described, and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional view taken through the lines 00 00 on Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken through the lines y y on Fig. 1.
In the embodiment of my invention I employ a single casting A,having the two inlets a a thereto, the upper or smaller inlet being for the supply of oil to the burner, while the lower one furnishes air to the n1ixing-chamber b.
Oil-supply inlet-pipe a has connection with the mixing-chamber b by means of a small passage 0, the opening or which is regulated by means of a valve or cook consisting of a concave shell 0 and circular plates 0 cast integral therewith at its endsto serve as guides for said valve, the flow of oil into the mixingchamber being regulated by means of an opening 0 in said concave shell, which registers with the passage or channel 0.
The air-chamber a is connected with the mixing-chamber b by means of a valve or cook 01, being semicircular in cross-section and having cast integral therewith guides or plates d (1, held securely in place by means of end pieces d 01 through an orifice in one of which a shaft d projects to allow the sup ply of air to the mixing-chamber to be regulated from the outside of the burner.
By constructing the mixing-chamber as shown a sheet of flame is made and the quantity of oil used is lessened considerably.
Thus constructed it will be seen that a du rable, simple, and inexpensive burner is produced.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combined oil and air burner, consisting of the single casting having the mixing-chamber flared at its sides outwardly and having its bottom inclined upward and outwardly, and the oil and air inlet pipes, one having a tapering passage connection with said mixing-chamber and the other pipe having a narrow passage connection with said mixingchamber, and the semicircular cock arranged in the air-inlet pipe and having means for its actuation, and the approximately semicircular shell-valve arranged in the oil-inlet pipe and having its opening 0 adapted to register with said tapering passage connection, substantially asset forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
, JOHN J. BUHOUP. Witnesses:
MERCER MILLER, FRANK SMITH.
